Its set in skyrim

I was fairly certain early on that it was going to either be in Skryim or the Summerset Isles, and was fairly certain at least a year ago or so that it was going to be in Skyrim.

We knew long ago that, if there was another game put out roughly on this schedule, it was going to have to be playable on the current generation of consoles. That meant that it was going to use roughly the same graphics engine. There would certainly be improvements, but there couldn't be a huge leap in graphics quality. That ruled Valenwood and Black Marsh out right off the bat - huge forests and swamp, respectively, would mean much more overhead for the background graphics, leaving that much less room for improvements in characters and animations. Elsweyr was possible graphically, but would require dealing with all the races, which would be an enormous development chore. Morrowind, Hammerfell and High Rock have already been done. Akavir was theoretically possible, but if they ever set a game in Akavir (and honestly, I sort of hope they don't), it's going to have to be very impressive, which implies both much improved graphics and much development poured into the races, setting, history, etc. So that pretty much left Summerset Isles and Skyrim.

I thought Summerset Isles was the more likely choice at first, simply because Oblivion makes notable mention of the goings-on there. I considered that to be foreshadowing. I visualized it something roughly akin to Camoran's Paradise - maybe a bit less rugged, but the same combination of nature and old, graceful little temples and walkways and such. Very cultured and very clean, with stately Altmer gliding along marble paths past fountains and gazebos. Doable with the current graphics and, again, strongly hinted at in Oblivion. But, even in that quick description, potentially at least a bit dull for those with shortened attention spans. And then the tide on the speculation board here decidedly turned toward Skyrim and I considered that. Graphically, a combination of the mountains from Oblivion and Solstheim from Bloodmoon, with valleys between the mountains, which could be fairly similar to the valleys in Oblivion - Nordic barbarians in fur armor with brutish weapons - no need to deal with any new races (Summerset Isles would've probably had to have included the Sloads, which would be kind of cool, but would require additional development) - and the forum was roundly in favor of the idea. It all made sense from a purely practical perspective, so I presumed then that it would be Skyrim. Then Beth reserved the rights to the name Skyrim and it was pretty much a done deal.

That must've been.... about a year and a half ago.

Well, i was preety sure it'd be the Summerset Isles, considering all the foreshadowing in OB (Daedric worship increasing in summerset, Altmer troubled ect). But i think it's been rumored to be Skyrim for years correct?

I had always hoped for Skyrim to be the setting for Elder Scrolls V. I heard rumors about summerset isle but Bethesda getting the trademark for the title "Skyrim" erased all doubt for me. I couldn't be happier.

For me it was a toss up between Summerset Isles and Skyrim. At the time I was hoping for Summerset, but when Skyrim was announced I didn't even care anymore I was just happy to know a new chapter in TES was coming!

I really had no idea, and I really don't care. In fact I wouldn't care if it was in Cyrodill again as long as it meant more TES.

Either Skyrim or Elsweyr.

Reason?: About a year ago some info slipped somewhere and rumors spread that the next game would either be The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, or The Elder Scrolls V: Elsweyr. It could have been someone doing a random lucky guess, considering that have done a game in 4 of the regions, there aren't many left.

Well, we've known about the Skyrim trademark for a while, so Skyrim didn't surprise me. In fact, I knew Skyrim was about to be announced as soon as I saw the mountains in the background of the VGA... before Todd Howard was introduced and came out to announce the game. I saw snowy mountains and instantly thought "Skyrim". The thought was solidified with the monks.

I thought it would be in Elsweyr.

My reasoning: No reason. I'd just love to play an Elder Scrolls game set in Elsweyr, that's all.

This but that stupid friggen utub video with the boxart and everything that said elsweyr.

Punctuations please.

I didn't care where the location would be, any TES game is great.

Uhh, dude. Who cares if he doesn't put a full stop at the end of his sentence. Don't be a [censored].

I was thinking Summerset Isle because before Morrowind was anything more than concept art the message boards on fan sites would report various sources from things heard from bethesda employees. I first found out TES 3 would be Morrowind while reading part of one of the pieces of paper in the box when I bought battlespire. So with Morrowind in Rumor mode and some concept art the next title after morrowind which had barely been even started yet people were saying was Oblivion set in Summerset Isle. So of course after Morrowind was out and I played it the announcement of Oblivion was of no shock but the fact that it was in cyrodiil and not summerset was a little surprising.

So based on that I figured since summerset was the topic of so many rumors and stated as the possible location for Oblivion I figured it would be next.

However I am VERY happy it is in Skyrim instead. In Morrowind we already saw the land of one of the elf races, Oblivion was much more traditionally fantasy so I am much happier with Skyrim a more viking themed region rather than another province with a different r ace of elves. It will make the last 3 games very distinct from each other.

there were liek 1000 of these posted back in december when the game first was announced. alot of people said akavir. others said "i want it in morrowind" and some said skyrim. thing is. is they probably wont do a game in a place full of beast races or orcs. so alot of those places r practically off limits. doing elswyr and black marsh wuld be unbelievably diffcult trying to put in the 100 different kinds of khajitts and making npc's that are cats. or in black marsh having hyst trees and determing how u wuld interact. than u have sload. than u have argonians who supposedly look human but they turn more lizard like as they lick the hist. too much stuff going on so i knew that was out the bag. orcs are not involved enough in the main story of the game. the last place was already in cyrodil. morrowind has already been done. hammerfell is also not involved enough and i just dont see them giving it to redguards especially since polls suggest they r one of the least favorited races. so... that kind of just leaves u with akavir and skyrim as options. but akavir again wuld take too much work...than u go down to summerset isle, valenwood... valenwood is nothing but a bunch of tree's so that kindo f knocks that option out. they are also not very actively involved in the main story at all. summerset isle wuld annoy the crap out of everyone and lower anyoens self esteem while snooty high elves looked down on them all day. so after realizig this the development team probably said "i guess its down to skyrim than.". at least thats how i imagine it went. lol. in my opinion i was thinking akavir but i kind of knew it wuld be too much work for them to incorporate all those diffferent races. they sstill remain the ultimate threat tho. i wuldnt be suprised if they turned out to be the dragons by some sort of twist in skyrim. they planned to attack tamriel and take it over and tosh raka turned himself into a dragon. his name is also very similiar to akatosh who happens to be another version of alduin....tosh raka... aka..tosh...

Alot of people I knew said summerset Isles, but due to the fact Beth patented the name Skyrim I knew it was gonna be Skyrim for a long time.

As far as what I WANTED it to be.. it would have to be these in order.

1. Blackmarsh
2. Hammerfell
3. Skyrim
4. Summerset Isles

Dont know if there was a topic on this(most likely) but i started one anyway
So years ago deep down in all our hearts we all knew that a new elder scrolls would come out but there was allot of speculation as to which province it would take place in
most people i knew where certant it would take place in summerset isle due to the talk you hear about there being problams over there..so the questions are

1 where did you think it was going to take place in and why?

I thought it would be in Elsweyr (or however its spelt :P)
