2 is nice .. I was never the 1337ist w/ those 8+ whatever you got for WoW .. so many bars i could see the game ..
5 abilities + 1 ultimate, at level 15 you gain weapon swap and a second bar that is 5+1. You can use the same weapon layout for each if you just want more abilities. There is no cooldown on weapon swap and you can do it in about .5 seconds as much as you want.
Remember your hotbar abilities share stamina r magika, so using 1 ability takes away the ability to use another. So even if you had 20 hotbar abilities you would not be able to use them.
you will find yourself using a certain magika ability and staminia ability most of the time. and a secondary for certain occasions.
You also have to remember your mouse is basic attack and heavy attack, along with active blocking and a bashing interupt. And they come in play alot in each fight
I think you can put the same weapon in both bars. I didn't make it that far to confirm for myself.
I imagine it was designed that way for the console people.
And you are sure that the current setup doesn't please "most of us" ... how?
I beg to differ. The lackluster weaponswapping between measly 5+1 abillities in ESO is the part i hate the most about the game.
Probably why ill only play for 30 days, then im trying Wildstar.
You want admit it, but most people in here excuding the ES fan boys are just here because they are bore and preorder because they crave a new mmo home.
2 different sets of 5+1 that you can swap instantly at lvl 15. Nice thing is that both weapons are removed from your inventory once you put them in your swap. So there is no way to accidentally sell the one you aren't using.
You can put the same weapon type in both bars, but not the same weapon. Which could be useful... that way you can take advantage of weapon stats customized to the skills on that bar.
I've played plenty of MMOs, including some that have similar "deck building" skill mechanics to ESO
But even if I hadn't, the MMO veteran is not the only group that ESO is designed to appeal to. As your own posts indicate, the MMO junkie is notoriously fickle Catering to them is not a good formula for long-term success.
That isn't true at all. People are sick and tired of having 20 hotbars filled with 100 abilities all cluttering the UI. If you like that, then fine. You are entitled to your opinion. But you have no evidence to suggest that most dislike the combat UI in ESO. I happen to love it. I think its fluid and fun. And I have never played any ES games.
I have a question, if I slot an ability on one bar that has something like "+8% while ability when slotted" and I switch to the second bar, do I lose that bonus? Same question for toggles such as sorcerer's pets?
Meh, that svcks. Don't really want to manage two weapons, or four if I am dual wielding.
See, this is EXACTLY why the devs would do well to disregard any input from your type of player :/ The ones who have played a million MMOs are not the ones who are ever gonna stick around.
Yeah, i think if they would just let us slot the same weapon in the second weapon slot, it would be a lot better. I plan on hotkey the weapon swap to my mousewheel, so that part shouldn't be too bad.
Anyone able to answer my question from my previous post? I think it might have got lost in the fighting.

Once you really get into the game and try different abilities and see how the hotbar system works you will find that 5+1 AND your mouse abilities are more than enough. 10+2 is almost too much if you ask me. there is so much more in combat than just using hotbar abilities. Timing your block, and bashes is key, then knocking the target down with a heavy attack. When you use your hotbar abilities you will see how they drain your resourcs and how managing them is key. you wont want to use "extra" hotbar abilities because they drain usage from your favroite abilities.
My Nightblade Assassin for example. I have 2 magika abilities, (1) vielled Strike {masive sneak attack opener, and good damage attack} (2) cripple {dot +snare}. and i have 3 stamina abilities. (3) Twin Slashes { damage +3bleed} (4) Flurry {big duration attack damage} (5) evasion {22% dodge chance}
During the fight my 1 and 2 abilities use my magika while my 3 and 4 abilities use stamina. i as i fight i try t mix in both as my 2 resource bars drain and regenerate. There are many more abilities i could use if i had more slots but BUT i would not use them 99% of the time because then i cant use the abilities i already have as much.
You also have to remember things like block, sneak, sprint, and bash use stamina, so you dont want to dump it all on abilities because then you wont be able to counter.
This system works very welll you just have to master it, But i understand how it looks limiting
lol i play most mmo, no i play most! keep the drama for the llama folks, lets have fun soon ^
