Jacob Hargreave, G-Man essentially? (May contain spoilers)

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 12:25 pm

He was in command of Prophet and presumably guided him around the island. he realized that the Nanosuit 1 was actually more potent than he thought as it was ****** and actually learned the nanosystems of the ****. Sometime between 2020 and 2023 he and his subsidiary Crynet developed the Nanosuit 2.

So apart from selling the Nano-suits to the North Koreans he also was in command of Raptor Teams Head leader?
I find that too hard to believe. What happened to JSOC? What happened to the command structure (Before Prophet committed treason)? What happened to the Pentagon? Your telling me that A head of a company had Prophet working for him. What is this Umbrella copycat?
Now I could imagine Right after prophet was taken he killed the alien that grabbed him then was contacted by Hargreave via a coded channel and suggested a way to modify the MOAC. But this suggests that Prophet isn't a straight arrow. So Nomad and Pyscho actually do what they signed up for while Hargreave points Prophet in the right direction and making it look like he has more intel by being abducted?

Let's hear everyone's thoughts about this. I'd like to see how deep we can go. Edit: Apparently some don't know what I'm talking about.

I'd like to know why, if he created nanites capable of instantly manufacturing light-bending crystals, didn't make a damn disassembler cannon instead of a nanosuit.

Good point. But stick on topic please. Perhaps Hargreave hasn't thought of it?

Basically, we've got a plot hole, as they seemingly cut the original story.
We don't know how Prophet survived, we don't know how he reverse engineered the weapon he created, nor for that matter, did he.

Also, Nanosuit 2 is a downgrade of Nanosuit 1.
If they made a Nanosuit 1 vs Nanosuit 2 mode, Nanosuit 2 would lose, The first suit was superior in everyway.

They've thrown in a new plot as "filler" but failed, because it's "A new story", one that's worse than the original epic ending of Crysis, and could have been an epic story..

A shame.. Damn consoles.

1.) He is not like G-Man. That's all I feel I can say about it.

2.) They wanted to reboot the series, meaning they wanted to keep what works and replace all the rest, even if it leads to inconsistenies with the original. I have never read any of this author's novels, but the story I found to be good. Not amazing or mind-blowing, but definetly good.

3.) Nanosuit 2 being a downgrade is an opinion. Having strength and speed integrated so you can use it with Stealth and Armor on at the same time is a smart decision that improved gameplay in my opinion.

It's a well worse suit.
Strength seems pointless. Run is pointless.
The only thing that seems to be the same is invisibility.
Armour has been downgraded too...

The G-man similarity is just simply by the fact that
"Hargreave is only alive as of 2023 because of his efforts in Tunguska in 1908 where he stole crashed ceph technology and along with Karl Rasch established the Hargreave-Rasch Biomedical Research Centre. Later in his life (presumably after World War II) he established Crynet as a subsidiary of Hargreave-Rasch. He managed to continue his life through the use of the stolen Ceph technology and he actually resides in a stasis tube as he is too old to be mobile."

I meant similar in the fact that he's still alive after only residing in a stasis tube. Since we all know what happened to Gordon Freeman.

I don't remember that being said in his official bio. That **** wiki page was written by someone who played the leak, I'd wager.

Also, Gordon is *not* G-man.

Um. I meant G-man put him in a stasis. That's why in HL2 "He hasn't changed one bit" according to Dr. Vance.

1.) You are posting some pretty big spoilers JPController.

2.) You are saying he is like G-Man, when the characteristics you are using as a combarison are of Gordon Freeman. So I don't know exactly what you are getting at.

I did read the first post. It never said where the information came from. And in my opinion, when you go on a Wikia page (not Wikipedia) you should expect spoilers.

I want to know how Hargraeve considers the nanosuit 2 to be his greatest achievement when it's painfully slow compared to the first nanosuit, and apparently it somehow restricts the user from holding weapons and enemies at the same time, the other arm just does nothing i guess as you're carrying this huge alien and surrounded by enemies.

When you play the single player, you will know, and then you will feel silly for asking. Lol, just kidding. But you will find out why in single player.

Fixed.. Didn't notice the very last part till now... Apologies about that.. Fixed it to where the topic makes the point.
So anyone else wondering if he'll mention why he sold it to North Korea as well then?

That is of course assuming that the technology wasn't stolen via espionage. After all, the US didn't sell the bomb to the Soviet Union.

Or it could be one of those details that is being scrubbed and forgotten about so that the series can be rebooted.

I find it being taken from the record very hard to swallow.. I mean the North Koreans were the main reason why we got the alien on the carrier in Crysis.
If it wasn't for Colonel Lee. We'd be wondering why Sykes isn't a badass. Besides I liked Lee, he added more depth for the KPA point of view.
Plus am I not the only one who thought that Lee deserved that cliffhanger ending in Warhead?
