Jail System

Post » Tue Aug 24, 2010 12:01 am

I'm really hoping that the jail system in Skyrim is just as good if not better than Oblivion. After committing a crime is very satisfying to literally go to jail making the game play more realistic in the sense that there are actual consequences for your actions instead of just going to a load screen and spawning outside the city castle like in previous games.

I liked Oblivion jail system. It was great for thief characters who could break out.

I hope npc who steal are sent to jail to and not killed, that was stupid.
The system is smarter to so friends will not attack you for taking an apple, but might if you take something expensive.

it will probably be simular to OB, idk for sure but I think that was somthing people posted about after MW when going to jail did not actually mean going to a jail cell. just as inconvieniant if you ask me but I liked the OB style any ways.

Yea I know what you mean, Sometimes just out of random I'd walk into one of the cities and find a few dead npc's laying around for no apparent reason, but that's why they invented the pc console...Resurrect is probably the most useful command

I think you should be forced to wait in that cell for the duration of your sentence, criminal scum! Joke, my friend clocked up a sentence of 560 days once. I doubt anyone would want to wait that long.

I did 12 years once. It was 3E 445 when I got out.

It was definately an improvement over MW. One would hope that it improves further in SK.

With regional instability that is said to be present in Skyrim, that and Skyrim roflcurbstomping towns, I have a feeling the only Justice will be Wasteland Justice. :teehee:

otherwise Im not really expecting much different from the formula. you commit a crime, either your put down, taken to jail, or pay a fine. what I hope is that time passes reasonably instead of fade to black and magical days flow by. if Dragons are supposed to tear the landscape, then if im irresponsible enough to get jailed during critical moments in time, id like that reflected when I get out, or even better. the dragons are the reason Im freed, whether to help fight them or they lay ruin to my imprisonment.

it would be cool that if you commit a crime in one city/town the news or bounty's take's time to travel to each town/city

You could do that with hard labor camps, just make it where you have the labor camps in game, and you cause a riot to escape or you can calmly sneak out while nobody is looking. Your stuff will be in a holding locker in the town you were arrested in.

She was dead. That was part of the reason I got 12 years. That and the other 800+ people. You really have to kill a lot to get put away in Oblivion. I did it as a test,

They should bring back Daggerfall′s legal system, in combination with Oblivion′s actual prisons that you′re thrown into.

In Daggerfall you didn′t go straight to jail but you first went to court, where you could plead guilty or not guilty for your crime(s). If you plead not guilty, there′s a chance they won′t convict you, based on what type of crime was committed (in this case it would probably have to check for how high your bounty is), your speech related skills, and any connections you may have with the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood. And maybe your reputation, I'm not sure.

But if you plead not guilty and you're found guilty, you'll get a higher punishment than when you'd plead guilty from the start.

Things should happen while you're in jail. When you get out, people you knew should be surprised to see you. Give a feeling that time has passed, the world has moved on. Maybe an angry quest giver will ask you why it's taking so long to complete their task (but of course would give you a second chance ;))

That would be a nice touch. But in all honesty I have no qualms with Oblivion's system.

That really sounds like a great idea! Would love to have it implemented into the game.
