Use a regular water pump on the ground same for food. If their is no dirt than I guess move the settlers away.

On, I think it's the southern side of the settlement, there are patches of dirt where you can build crops and pumps. Easiest way to find the buildable spots is just select what you want to build and then just move around till you get a green item.

I recommend mutfruit plants as they provide more food for each placement than most of the others.Alternative is use the space as best you can, then set up a supply line from another settlement to provide food.

Up the stairs next to the building where the power armor station is. There are a couple dumpsters there. Can plant and put water pumps in that area.

It's to bad we can't buy bags of soil. Would come in handy.

If you're on PC, you can get a mod that lets you construct ~planters~ like the ones in Greygarden, so you can plant food in areas with no dirt.

Set up a supply line to keep basic needs covered. Also, there's a moderate patch of fertile soil, up on that little walled in plaza. Goes for water pumps as well.

This settlement is far too small to allow for a big population anyway. Unless you build some kind of tower structure. I use it as a fortified artillery base with about 10 people living there.

I keep a skeleton "staff" of 2 settlers with only a couple of plants and 1 water pump in the wrecked house while I've completely walled in so no attacks. Needless to say, their happiness rating is quite low. It ain't pretty.

There's enough soil on the house floor for some modest crop planting.

I've been able to grow a lot of crops and place water pumps at J P.

You can even place crops in the cracks of the hard surfaces.

Melons and carrots are good for such places.
