Hi guys recently I found a couple of interesting Oblivion mods from our friends in Japan, but unfortunately my English version of Oblivion doesn't support Japanese. I saw a while ago in another mod on TesNexus that included a custom Chinese font that enables Chinese language in Oblivion, so I was wondering if there's any font files out there that enables the correct display of Japanese characters and is compatible with DarnUI1.32.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Arial Unicode MS font has the ability to show Japanese characters, but I am not sure if it works with only a copy/paste.

Searching through the net the best solution i could come up with is obja_12416.dll... put it in the obse plugin directory and it'll alter your fonts to correctly display Japanese... however it's intended for Vanilla OB UI so those of us using Darn/Dark UI will suffer.

I wonder if anyone has come up with DarnUI version of obja_12416.dll..

Well after a week of prowling Japanese modder's threads I got it figured out.

To install Japanese fonts that will work with custom UIs, first google and download this file "TES4JaPatch016_beta3"

Unzip everything to Oblivion directory, copy obja_11511.dll and obja_12416.dll to Data/obse/plugins directory.

Then run obja_config.exe from Oblivion directory. The config screen will be in Japanese but dont worry, just choose ur UI mod from the top most menu and then click the button to the right, and then click OK. That's it, you're done.

Now you should be able to launch Oblivion the usual way and be able to see Japanese characters.
