Jasmine, a Morrowind companion

Post » Tue Aug 10, 2010 6:49 pm

 <-not directed at you. If you're at the very start, you'll find Jasmine in the cave just north of Seyda Neen with the rest of the slaves. Don't use the ring because it won't work unless Jasmine is already following you.

I'm assuming if I've already let the slaves out, she'll show up there when I enter, again. Thanks: I'll check it out. I was wondering if I'd encounter her in some other city, and was preparing for the grand tour. ;) Please don't take this wrong, but it might be worth putting that as a spoiler in the next version's readme, since some of us pick up mods while a game is in progress. (Especially since there are now patches and utilities that make this possible usually without corrupting saved games.)

Thanks, once again. :)

That's a known error. I removed something I shouldn't have when cleaning the mod because I didn't realize I needed it. Just click past it, it won't affect anything unless you're doing the Tall Papa recover quests. I'll be fixing that in the next update.

For some reason the global flags I was using to monitor certain things got set in the plugin. I was hoping to put off a new release for awhile, but it looks like I'll have to get a bug fix out soon. :swear: I'd like to know how that happened...

I'm now using version 2.0a for a while now and i wonder; can you update to a new version without any problems?

An other question and this is about the quests which are made by this mod. I've now finished the quest In the search of the lost tomes and gave Deandre the last book (catched it from vivec)
Now the journal says that Deandre mentions a collection of books called the Walkabout (or something like that) , which tells the story of ruptga or tall papa as the redguards mention it.
But nothing happens when i talk to deandre again. There are also no other topics, only about the companion jasmine, which gets you nowhere.
Am i missing something? Or do you have to progress further in the mainquest first? I'm now at the point where i'm supposed to talk with Hassour Zainsubani (started over again with morrowind)
Or does it have to do something with a membership of a faction? I'm now member of the mages guild (magician), Fighters guild (journeyman), imperial cult (novice) and the blades and i'm planning to become a member of the morag tong and the legion.
I'm not a member of a great house yet (as i'm planning to become a member of house telvanni)

When you ask Deandre again about recovering books, he should have a topic called Tall Papa. If he doesn't, wait until the next version (2.1a), that one should fix that issue. As for updating, I think I've ironed out any issues with updating, so it should be safe provided you follow my update instructions. :)

I've an odd...well, sorta flaw to report. I'd used Feyiin's amulet to return to his cave, and see how it stacked up against the shack where my character is currently storing things. Jasmine, mind you, was in the shack. Since she didn't travel with me, I contacted her via her ring, and told her nevermind when the offer was extended to meet outside.

When I recalled back to the shack, she was twirling around quickly on one point. I tried speaking with her, and got the response that she was ignoring me.

This stopped when I moved, and tried contacting her a second time. She also stopped twirling. But it probably bears mentioning.

That's a combination of an engine bug (the twirling) and an attempt to fix it (her ignoring you). If an NPC is following you, but can't get directly to you, their AI goes funky and they'll either start running around in circles or spinning like you've seen. Just ignore it, it won't affect anything.

Well, he doesn't have the topic recovering some books anymore. All i can ask is about jasmine, lorit and the common morrowind things (background, latest rumors, etc)
Hmm ok, then i wait for the fix. :)
In the meantime i have progressed further with the mainquest and cult. I have also talked with both parents of jasmine, her brother and the one where he has an eye on.
Talking about the parents; when i go to the basemant in jims house i encounter a couple of error's. There is something missing out there.

[edit]: Nevermind, I see I forgot to include those textures. :embarrass: As for the Tall Papa issue, try entering SetJournalIndex JAC_TallPapa 0 in the console and see if Deandre will talk about the books then.

Yeah. Here are the warnings i get:
TES3Stream Warning: Model "Meshes\Cali\jac_armormanhead.nif" tex not found "textures\cali\jac_armorskin.tga"!Texture Load Error!: textures\cali\jac_armorskin.tgaTES3Stream Warning: Model "Meshes\Cali\jac_armormanbody.nif" tex not found "textures\cali\jac_armorskin.tga"!

[edit] I have used the setjournalindex command, but nothing happened. It turned into the blue/purple color (which normal means it is the right code and is activated) but Deandre is not having the topic about Tall Papa.
Now i have looked into the CS and there the topics about tall papa exist. It seems like deandre does normally giving you and jasmine a choice of retrieving some books.
Unfortunately he doesn't now. Stupid thing is that in my journal after giving the last book for in search of lost tomes it says that deandre mentions a collection of books about tall papa.
I've also tried the command AddTopic Tallpapa (and also with TallPapa and Tall Papa) , but no luck. It result in an error that such dialog is not being found on line 1.
Anymore suggestions? Or just wait for the fix.

I see on PES now version 2.1a. So the fix is up i assume.
And can i just throw this version over 2.0a?

I see on PES a comment by someone named Chainy who have some problems. I quote the comment from PES:

Posted by Chainy at 2009-07-19 02:39:05
I have a problem with a missing texture I think. I have downloaded two versions of this including the latest one and I always get this error when I go into the eight plates:
DLHS\IDL_S_SCS.nif tex not found
\textures\d_l_hawkeye_scimitar\_dl_chrome10from....
I cant read anything else because the message is to big for the error box ?!? :-P
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I swear this mod is possed. I thought I had changed all of the texture paths for that blade, but I guess not. Anyway, I uploaded a fixed mesh on PES.

Thanks Jac for the updates.
I will now try to update to version 2.1a (and hope all works without having to start over again)

Jac, noticed a problem with Jasmine. I told her to use whatever mix of weapons she preferred in combat. When she was attacked at point blank range by an Ancentral Ghost, she continued to pepper it with arrows, despite having a lightly enchanted sword on hand. I can always tell her to stick with melee, of course, but that's not a genuine solution.

This was the 2.1 version; I didn't realize until checking now you've moved to 2.1a. Still, from the description of changes, I don't think that will alter the situation much.

That's an engine issue and not something I can really do anything about. If you want her to fight melee, you'll have to tell her to do so. Otherwise she'll use a bow unless she's in the water.

So far, I've greatly enjoyed this mod...but small SPOILER

I am having the hardest time finding Sason in, near, or in the vicinity of Khuul. I'm hoping I'm just not looking in the right place, but I've spent a good hour looking, heh. So...where's he supposed to be? (I did find a small island off to the west with a bedroll, but I wonder if that is part of another mod, or just something in vanilla Morrowind that I've never seen before).

Spoiler
He's on the road south east of Khull.
I used him because he was already in the game, had a quest, and it wouldn't break anything by doing so. :hehe:

Aha! Just a matter of not looking hard enough. I think he was hiding behind a tree.

Thanks

Yeah, NPCs have a mind of their own and like to wander around. I didn't touch Sason, so he's prone to wander like everybody else. I'm glad you found him, though.

Will Sason typically refuse to speak about anything except his quest, until you help him? Because I'd love to put off hunting for his wife until I'd dealt with the book, but it's not a subject he's got listed. Admittedly, this a Sason clone, caused by PlaceAtPC, because the original seems to have gone walkabout, and doesn't seem to be anywhere in the vicinity of Khuul. But still, he should react in the same way.

If you talk to Sason about recovering that book he first wants that you do a favor for him. And that favor is then the quest to rescue his wife from the bad cultists.
He doesn't give you that book earlier then when he sees his wife again.
