ORIGINAL FALLOUT DESIGNER JASON ANDERSON TO JOIN INXILE ENTERTAINMENT DEVELOPMENT TEAM

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – March 18, 2009 – inXile entertainment today announced that Jason Anderson, one of the original Fallout design team members, has joined the company as creative director for a new, unannounced role-playing game (RPG) from inXile. Anderson recently left gamesas, where in his second tenure there served as creative director working on the next generation MMO Project: V13.

“Jason has an extensive resume of creating amazing RPGs over the past two decades and we feel very lucky to have his talent directed to one of our upcoming projects,” said Brian Fargo, chief executive officer of inXile entertainment. “His leadership and vision will allow us to have a second development team focused on an epic game that will push the boundaries of RPGs.”

Anderson began his career as a 3D artist at gamesas working on USCF Chess. He was a key member of the original Fallout development team contributing to both art and design. Working closely with Tim Cain, he helped design the isometric engine, game world and interface used in Fallout. In addition to Fallout, Anderson assisted as an artist on Stonekeep and Of Light & Darkness, and he contributed to the initial design for Fallout 2. After leaving gamesas, Anderson was one of the three founding members of Troika Games, producing such games as Arcanum: Of Magick & Steamworks, Obscura and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.

Anderson commented, “I appreciate the opportunity inXile has provided me and I am looking forward to this new challenge.”

InXile has the rights to the Wasteland title, so it looks like he might be working on Wasteland 2 there. :)

It also likely means that gamesas failed to gather the required budget for Fallout Online and V13 will be canceled. :( The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Fallout Online * Fallout IRC Channel * Fallout: New Vegas

I wish Jason well, but V13 hasn't been canceled and we're still moving forward without him.

Best wishes to all involved.

Good to hear V13 isn't dead yet. If the funding isn't secured as per the Bethesdian contract, gamesas can still use what they have so far and slap a different name on it right?

And WL2? Yummy.

that is mostl likely the reason y they havent annoucned what game there workin on...just the codename...then if they dont have the funding that is required they can just say that v13 is somthing not fallout related and bethesda cant do crap....im guessing but that makes sense to me

Jason stated that he prefers working on single-player cRPGs, not MMORPGs. The Vault - Fallout Wiki * Fallout Online * Fallout IRC Channel * Fallout: New Vegas

I personally prefer singleplayer cRPGs myself as well, if V13 ends up being the success everyone hopes it will be, maybe gamesas can work with inXile on Wasteland2....? :X *crosses fingers*

Quoted for truth. I agree 100%, Wasteland 2 is like 15 years overdue.

This I really hardly think that is the case. Jason Anderson most likely left under more personal views which is completely okay by any means. Jason as said before was one of the top designers of Fallout and helped greatly with its direction. Now lets think of some other things. Inxile which was formed by the former Founder of gamesas, Brian Fargo, has since attained the rights of Wasteland from Electronic Arts since Wastelands first venture out onto the shelves. Can you guess what the under development RPG is?

Jason I'm sure wants to go down to the roots and work on it as Fallout was originally a spiritual successor to Wasteland. I could be wrong here but I seriously think that is the main reason he left for Inxile. Fallout itself is shaky now but I have faith in the team here at gamesas today. Anyways know I'm sure there are never hard feelings because the team that created such a wonderful series will always be a team at heart. Cause its still about making the games fun for those who play them.

And with that, an end note. With Project V13 having been in production for quite some time I'm sure there are plenty of notes left behind for the next person to fill Jason's shoes here and see where he was going with the direction and continue from there.

As always best of wishes to you Jason with Inxile. I think the fans are going to be proud to see a qualified MMO by a company that brought us an awesome series we adore and obsess over with a heaping side order of an RPG which most likely will be the sequel to the game that started this adventure. I told the Overseer of Vault 13 I'd give everything to save everyone, and so I did, I saved them all. Since then I've felt loneliness.
