Jaw-Dropping Moments

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:35 pm

Any moments you guys were just unexpecting and were awed?

Heres a pleasent one:

I was going to do research for my Anthropology class. While at the college library, I had gotten most of my research done and decided to check oit the video(VHS) tapes in the corner because they had caught my eye. Well I was scanning them when I saw Monty Python season 1, 2, 3 ,etc.....complete collection(holy Grail and Life of Brian included). My jaw dropped literally. And had to see if I could check them out. I could :).

The first hour I spent playing Shadow of the Colossus. And then for the rest of the game.

Also (Spoiler for Dead Space),

when Hive Mind appeared.

I guess I enjoy big things.

When TES:V was announced at the Spike VGA.

Also when I found out that Calamari tastes GOOD.

Honestly I wasn't excited about the announcement at all. I only started to get excited when information about the game was going to be released. And with all of the new changes they are making with the combat and everything now I am officially hyped. I haven't been hyped about a game in 5 years or so.

And just to add to the thread I had a jaw dropping moment when I saw my first 30 foot waves at Hookipa bay on the north shore of Maui.

When I saw the Golden Gate bridge for the first time. Or a real wild west town.

When I rode into Mexico playing Red Dead Redemption :vaultboy:

Well, there have been plenty off them, but the one I remember to this day;

I was climbing out of a valley in Anza Borrego, when I stopped to rest. It was about 5,000 ft or so, and so I had a terrific view of the valley which runs approximately 6 miles East to West. No sooner had I seated myself, a Marine Corps Harrier shoots by past in dead silence. Eye level and about 100 yards to my South. I could actually see the pilot. I must have waited 30 min in that spot either in disbelief in such a strange encounter or hoping he would make a second pass...

I was so very excited when Skyrim was announced... hell, thinking about it now is awesome.

Other than that, whenever I get a new Halo game. Then I am excited for weeks.

That has to be in the top ten most beautiful moments in gaming. After playing for hours in America, you ride out into a vast land you've never experienced. It was amazing. The music, the sense of lonelyness, the massiveness of Mexico, seeing Landon's town in the distance, etc. Just beautiful. If I could relive any moment in gaming it would be that one. I don't even think I quite realized it's power at the time. The only thing that comes close is when you step out of the Vault in Fallout 3 or when you (RDR spoilers!)
Spoiler
ride home in RDR. And the events leading up to John's death where you get to "settle down" at your home.

If you can't tell, RDR is pretty much my favorite game of all time
