Jet Pack Type Mod?

Post » Wed Aug 25, 2010 5:24 am

Uploaded a new version with the flames added, collision detection while flying, and a ton of fixes to the jetpack nif. Thanks to weijiesen for making the flame nif, and Ghogiel for getting them lined up properly, and fixing so many issues with the jetpack nif (details in the readme)

Wow, I seriously did not think anyone would ever get collision detection to work. Nicely done.

Well in fairness I borrowed the idea from AndyW's hover chair mod. Just had to create a special shaped mesh to work with the jetpack. We are having speed contests now to see who can hit the highest MPH on your HUD :P

Awesome, the results are actually linked to your system specs - max frame rate - right? :brokencomputer:

*Edit - someone needs to make a race course, like a canyon run.

Actually I used a timer and a little simple math that should make speeds the same between systems independent of the FPS. Basically a person having lower FPS will generally move farther each frame compared to someone having a higher frame rate who is moving a shorter distance each frame.

Jetpack races could be fun, too bad no multiplayer :(

Oh, right. It's an object script so it gets executed every frame.

How hard would it be to program some competitive racing AI? :bonk:

Could the Jetpack require fuel proportional to how much weight you're carrying? :)
