JFK?

Post » Sun May 23, 2010 7:08 pm

Alright this is how he stands now

S-5
P-7
E-3
C-10
I-7
A-4
L-4

Good?

That look dandy to me. You've got wiggle room anyways. Your playthrough is gonna me more about doing what JFK would do than nailing his special numbers, i'd imagine.

I'm going to assume that the less than polite poster above must have been commenting on the airport, not the assasinated president.

Speech, barter (negotiating), you could make a decent argument for a reasonable science. His default weapon skill would be guns, I don't know what else you could start off the build with to keep it as he was IRL. Probably a fair amount of medicine. I don't know about repair, but I'm sure he had to use some technical skill in the Navy.

-Gunny out.

The Navy tended to assign yachtsmen, commercial fishermen, ect to the PT Boats because of thier skill with handling small to medium sized boats. He would probably have a moderate repair skill. He might have a moderate Unarmed skill as well, to reflect the emphasis people in his social class placed on participating in college sports.

These are the skills im gonna focus on: Tad bit on science not much, Repair maybe get it up to 50?, Speech get it up to 100, Barter get it up there to, Unarmed maybe?, Guns im thinking get it up to 80?, Little bit of attention to lockpick but not much at all maybe raise it a total of 10 points?, Get some points on medicine also?, and i think thats it.

Sound good?

Looking at your special I am sure lockpick would be well over 10, may as well round it up to 25.

And what do you think about the clone background?

Maybe implying the character is actually a clone of JFK....that somehow escaped from a Enclave lab where they'd been continuing pre-war experiments or something. Or maybe Elijah found him in a hibernation chamber in the Big Empty and set him free for some reason.

Cool. Like Ted Williams or Walt Disney's head. I was wondering if you were going to try for any certain rationale for how JFK ended up in Nevada in 2280.

That's cool then. You don't need no backstory. Keep us posted on how it goes. It'll be interesting to see how you make some of the choices in the game.

Well i was on my way to primm and i avoided a powder ganger completely so i wouldn't get in a fight and ruin my nice business suit. Now im in primm also and i killed these two convicts while only taking one shot from them.

Ill keep you posted.

Well i got everyone a update...just got done playing FNV.

Well let me start off where i finished...I was at primm ok so i kill all the convicts outside then talk to nash...etc. So i go into Bison steve to kill the rest of the convicts. I get in there and im still wearing my bussness suite trying to not wear any armor. So i have to start thinking more strategic. So i go in there and put down a land mine where the conivict will come and he almost gets blown away. SO then i finish him off with a tire iron to the face....i eventually find Deputy beagle and get him to help me through SPEECH. So then we go up stairs and i get shot by the one convict and it took away 1/4 of my health so i think ohh [censored] this is gonna be hell...i look over at deputy beagle and think your the only way im gonna make it out of here alive. So then me and him fight back the convicts and while he is shooting them with his 9mm im shooting them in the face with my Varmit rifle. So eventually we get out of there alive both of us!! Then i head on toward the Mojave outpost of course. And on my way there, theres that mojave highway partol police station and i see two convicts so i snipe them with the Varmit rifle silently...so then i go over more and theres this damn Jackel or viper leader and she is one pain in my ass. She killed me at least 5 times till i thought of a plan. Not far down the road was a NCR soldier so i lured her over there and he took her out for me.

So then i head in the police station and killed them all easy. Go up to the Mojave outpost chat it up there. Then head my way to niption on my way there i discover the Nipton rest stop or something. And theres at least 3 jackals there so i was like [censored]ting my pants. So i go around the one corner and put 3 frag mines around it and then get there attettion...one runs around and gets blown up then the other runs around and i shoot his pistol out of his hands and then get out my tire iron and smash his brains in and left the other one alone. SO then i found that one guy who has the star bottle caps and hes fighting that one girl and i use SPEECH again to get his bottle caps rather than kill him. So i head up to nipton farther and go in there and talk to vulpes and everything and im on my way!! I later encounter another group of jackels or vipers around a turned up Truck and i hide in the truck and wait for them to try and attack me. So it works and they attack me and i shoot the im the face with my pistol and i head on my way.(im also not wearing any armor other than my Buissness suit). This is were it gets interesting.

I see two carvan merchants and two mercenarys when i was heading my way over to Charlie and wouldnt you know they run into a group of 4 recruit legionarys...so i just sit back and watch the fireworks. So one mercenary gets killed and i was not shocked at all until the mercenarys and merchants killed all the legion and i was like wow! So then i head down more. I then see a group of 4 NCR soldiers patroling around Charlie and then they got attacked by 1 Recruit Decanas and one Legion leginary and this is where it gets dissapoiting... The NCR were just getting wrecked 2 soldiers had a service rifle and some sort of pistol. Thne the Decanas had a cowboy reapater and the legionary had i think a pistol also. Needless to say when the last 2 NCR soldeirs were left that same caravan showed up again and they started to all get into a fight(once again i was just watching). The Recruit Decanus was just owning them. And the Legionary died from the merchants. So then it got down to 1 Recruit Decanas and 1 mercanry needless to say the mercenary got shot in the face and killed...

I then headed up to Novac and saved it there.

I think these count as some good choices.

Hope you enjoyed my little story. Say any comments of what you think and what should be improved about my character :)

Staying in character, I would go with ferocious loyalty.

Dunno about guns, but in terms of apparel I'd stick with the pre-war business suit or maybe go with some pre-war casual wear (when larking about off-duty). JFK shouldn't be running around in Power Armour.

Exactly what i was thinking. The highest i would probably go would be leather armor and that would be in sticky situations. Im aiming to get Presidents Kimballs suit. It would rather nice on him. Also i would switch between apparel when im not "working".

Also im thinking about Boone to be my body gaurd at all times!! also have him wear either Vet ranger armor or something that seems suitable to protect the PRESIDENT.

I'd love to know how you'll do that whilst remaining true to the RP.

Spoiler
Are you planning to turn JFK into an assassin (sounds like more of a Lee Harvey Oswald RP), or will you just stand idly by and let the Legion take out Kimball? Neither's very, uh, presidential. :P

Mind you, bashing Fiends in with a tire iron isn't very presidential either, I guess every RP has its limits.

I spoiler'd you what with this being GD and all...

Spoiler
You can, but only if you're not vilified by the NCR. If the NCR hate you, you're forced to skip Kimball's visit altogether and go straight on to the next quest instead. So don't piss off the NCR too much if you're going down the Yes-Man route.

I wonder if you could let the President die when doing the NCR route, though. You'd fail the 'save the pres' quest, sure, but I reckon the game'd carry on nonetheless, though I'm sure Col. Moore would chew you out something fierce.

Thinking again for JFK, some of those gambler suits are pretty dapper, and you might even think about http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ambassador_Crocker%27s_suit, which is quite swish.

For Boone, a pre-war business suit would be most bodyguard-like (just think of what a president's security detail looks like irl) but unfortunately 1) it's bugged and so becomes a white linen suit on male characters and 2) Boone might not equip it anyway due to the minimal DT it offers. As for guns, someone with more expertise is better placed to advise, but some sort of high-powered pistol or SMG would seem most true-to-life. Or at least, true to TV-and-film representations of VIP security (yeah, I'm mostly going from 24 and the like here). Again though, Boone might have other ideas as to what he will and won't use, so that may restrict you somewhat. Maybe just give him some black combat armour and an AMR, forget realism and just go with what looks cool.
