I think it'll take some getting used to by everyone. We've been used to the same Jim for years. And now this modified is version thrown at us.
This is going to be weird for all Jim fans because this is going to be the game that should have come first if you really think about it. Jim is finally getting a story. Jim's actions are finally going to be motivated. There is going to be more plot than "rescue the princess".
I'll admit that I'm only disappointed to see the cartoon effect put in place. Personally I think the fact that all the wackyness of Jim's world was great because it was taken seriously in a way. Almost realistic somehow. A worm, in a super suit, drawn and shaded realistically. It just added a new strange layer to all of his awesomeness.
I have total faith in Doug to make a superb story/design/etc, but no matter what anyone thinks, we're all going to be thrown for a loop by what ever he creates.
I think a better question at this point is how Jim and his world are going to be represented in a gaming environment. Mostly because of his new cartoon look and his new mouth that comes off of his face now.
So 3D, or hand drawn animation? (More than likely the first. Sadly.)
BTW, does anyone think that the band Primus should be contacted to do the music? I think the new EWJ game should retain some of that psycho-red neck vibe to it. Andy Asteroids meets Wynona's Big Brown Beaver?
