Jiub

loved to hear about saint jiub in oblivion. sad that he fell, but now, every time i get bored and start up a new morrowind game, thats all i can think about when he asks me my name, lol.

anyway, just throw out my opinion on the series of events that lead to his sainthood...(like what i picture in my head)

he was probably released sometime after the neravarine was. after he learns of the neravarine events, he finds the neravarine seeking some task he can do to aid the land. the neravarine, recognizing him as the first person who was nice to him on his journey, asks him to rid the land of the accursed pestering cliff racers.

after much hardship, he succeeds and is made a saint. after the neravarine.....mysteriously leaves before the oblivion events.....jiub picks up some of the slack in defending morrowind and when the gates open, he gives his life to protect the land.

ah, its pleasant to think about......the story, not the death, lol

It's just an easter egg joke on how St. Patrick drove the snakes from Ireland. It's a nice parallel too, since Paddy also 'splained the Trinity using a shamrock, and Morrowind too has a trinity.

I expect you all to be getting drunk in his honour for St. Patrick's day.

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling...

Sounds pretty good, and similar to what I wrote in Loranna's RP once, with Jiub having been a bandit chief who was being repatriated to Vvardenfell after serving his sentence in an Imperial prison. It helps explain why Jiub makes it his quest to help travellers by driving out the cliffracers, having been a bandit himself.

I find it funny that he wiped out a species of winged monsters, and yet fell in battle against the Deadra. That just seems kinda... dissappointing...

It doesn't state he killed them - In the game, to get a Cliff Racer after you, all you need to do is go near one, so maybe he just walked past every Cliff Racer in Morrowind and then left Morrowind with all of the Cliff Racers chasing after him. What a sight that would be, wonder where he drove them to.

He probably did something more saintly, as speaking to them and convincing them to leave. Perhaps go back to where they came from, if they did come from somewhere else, as in Akavir. Perhaps the Nerevarine just went there to make sure the cliffracers did not change their mind while on the road.

Easter eggs are infinitely better than random pop culture references in every piece of dialogue. *cough*WoW*cough*

What? You're the first person that I have seen said anything so heratical as that. Cliff Racers are the spawn of evil!

A spawn of evil and the reason Marksman was such an over-powered skill in Morrowind. I tried numerous times to make a character who was equally adept at both Marksman and Short Blade, but by the time I got to Balmora my Marksman skill was in the 70s from killing Cliff Racers.

Another reason to add a little Neutral Cliff Racer mod.

There's an interesting theory in the literature section of the Silgrad Tower forums:
