Job dilemma

Post » Thu Jan 23, 2014 9:58 pm

So long story short the owner of the place I work at sold the franchise back to the corporate people and is now being run by this woman. As of now we were told that everyone is keeping their jobs and that everything will go back to normal shortly, but it hasn't.....the last day I worked was on the 12th and then we had a meeting the 16th and I'm still sitting here snowed in, bored out of my mind, and not making money waiting for these new people running the place to get it up and going. Basically the old owner sold the place cause he wasn't making enough money (we're a restaurant btw) and since we've be closed since the 12th I feel the clientel isn't going to come back and my hours are going to get cut and were gonna go out of business shortly. I feel as though I should start looking for another job, but then again my family is telling me I'm overracting and that the new owners aren't gonna go that much longer with out being open and I'd be back in no time. Am I overreacting? Should I look for another job? I seek the wisdom of the almighty forum gods here in community discussion to guide me on the correct path (jk but seriously lol)

If you feel you're at a job where your job security is being threatened I would start looking for another job immediately just in case. They may close, they may not. But at least you have a backup either way.

Regardless of what the future franchisees have in store, how long have you worked at this place? Sometimes the best way to get a promotion is jumping ship. If you've been there for a while your talents/skills might be considered an asset somewhere else.

If its not a job you dream of retiring from then run far far away. You will find another job. I worked a dead end job for 2 years and got pissed one day and took a day and went door to door at possible employment opportunities and had 3 jobs starting the next day. Gave 2 week notice and worked 1 day and they tried to force me over time and i told them to eat [censored] and walked out

Most awesome feeling right there!

Since September, but in response to another post I can't just quit and leave cause it's not the best job, I have to pay loans etc. plus I'm saving up all the money I can to move out of my parents and get my own place and car. My goal is to have that accomplished by summer.

Wish you had better job security, I would feel terrible if I was in this predicament.

Your choices are clear. Wait it out or find a new job.
