So.. John Cleese is coming to Tamriel

Post » Sun Jan 26, 2014 9:04 pm

Do you think this is cool? I myself just cannot picture his voice in the TES universe, I doubt many people will share that opinion though. He's supposed to be playing a madman from what I've heard, who isn't intimidated by anyone.. Even a Daedric Prince. Why is it that I can't picture his voice in the game?

Can't be as bad as Max von Sydow mind you. Everytime his character in Skyrim opened his mouth, it sounded as though he was scoffing down a huge cake as he was talking. xD

He did rather well as Sir Roderick Ponce Von Fontlebottom the Magnificent Bastard in Jade Empire, so I'm guessing he will do well here too.

I think John Cleese has made an excellent job so far from what I could tell. I love the mad man feeling (maybe my avatar is too obvious?). You just Never know what to expect!

I bet he's gonna be a char like Cicero, on the road with his mother in a coffin, despised because he is to funny for the average NPC

Did you watch the voice acting trailer?
As soon as I saw the face of his character, and how he described him as being like Don Quixote, I knew it would fit perfect.

I think he'll do well, Idk why though but, his voice reminds me of fable 3....was he in that? (I dislike fable 3 like, really hard).

There's a voice acting trailer? I will definitely need to check that out. :D

@harry: Yeah he played the butler in Fable 3.

John is a talented comedy actor and the allocated NPC is right up his street.

He also did a great job as Q in a couple of the Brosnan era Bond Movies but most of all The Life of Brian & The Meaning of Life two hilarious Monty Python movies.

Another reason I like him is he was born in a little seaside town in the South West of the UK called Weston super Mare. So was I.

Yeah, and you get to see/hear him deliver some lines of dialog.
I think you'll see that he fits his role quite well, and will be a great addition to the game.

There's a thread about the trailer here: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1485274-voice-cast-revealed/

(i'm sure the trailer is in there somewhere)

John Cleese is an actor, not a character. The character's he has played have ranged from reserved to absurd and from serious to hilarious. I am sure he will portray the character of who ever he is going to voice just fine.

It's awesome having Cleese's voice in ESO, suits the character well.

Thanks Harry. I really like Michael Gambon's voice. I never usually say this about things that a person can't help, like ones appearance or accent, but Michael Gambon has such a mellow calming tone to his voice, it's almost inspiring. And he's Dumbeldore.. 'nuff said. :P

I also like how they were all English. Why does everyone seem to think that we're the ones with the sophisticated accents? Have you ever seen a [censored]? No, exactly. lol. Even in films set in Ancient Greece or Rome, they always have English accents. It makes no sense.

Speaking of madmen, I just hope they'll at least have the decency to hire Wes Johnson to do Sheogorath's voice if he ever gets an appearance there.

We get it ZOS, your game is a big thing and you're hiring famous people for every character. Doesn't mean you should just discard the older TES voice actors.
Wes has always been perfect as Sheo.

Yeah, agreed that Cleese is an incredibly talented actor, but this role is just so perfect for him. I hope so much that his character gets a chance to talk with Sheogorath. That would be so epic.

Also, I just want to make the call ahead of time that no one's gonna be calling Michael Gambon's character 'the Prophet'. I think we all know that most people are going to be calling him 'Dumbledore'.

There's a rare interview with Paul Sage where he mentions that the Mages Guild questline will revolve around Sheogorath.

Has anyone noticed a sort of resemblance between Sir Cadwell and a certain daedric prince of madness. Think they could be related or something along those lines?
