Joining Imperial Legion

So The fact that you could join the Legion in Morrowind was really fun... Does anyone else think they should bring it back

I don't know...By all accounts the empire has seen its swan-song and now lies fractured and ruined...

As Black 6 said. Also, I hope you can't because I don't want them in my homeland. Something very un-Nordlike when you are controlled by an Imperial administration. Bring back the old pantheon and traditions!

I get your guys points but I think if you were part of a smaller crumbling Legion in skyrim it would make for some awesome quests

there is a civil war going on... it seems right that some aspect of the Legion should remain and still be recruiting to maintain some semblance of order.
But then again they should have let you join in the last game too...

I agree. It really would be pretty awesome. You could help them get more established, and be this small team of elite Imperials :)

Would be great to see one of Cauis Cosades grand grandchildren? :D

As stated above, the Imperial Legion as such might not work, but I definitely liked the concept of that faction in Morrowind so, why not?

The Imperial Legion was and still is my favorite joinable faction in TES. I would definitely love to see it return, especially with the political turmoil going on in Tamriel and Skyrim.

At the very most, let them have a fort in the south near the border of Cyrodiil. Maybe have quests trying to reimpose Imperial rule in Skyrim during the civil war.

However, I know in my game if there was such a fort it would be the first place that gets sacked.

I would like to have the option. It should definitely be a shadow of what it once was. Maybe when you visit Windhelm there will be a small faction and you can basically help defend the city from bandits coming over from Morrowind. Maybe the Imperials left are the cream of the crop and can help you in the final battle against Alduin, if you join their ranks. Who knows? Could be interesting if they are in the game.

Where did this stuff about the Empire supposedly being dead come from? The Empire is having issues, but it is not over. One of the points is one of the factions of the civil war is still loyal to the Empire!

Keep in mind that the 4th Era Imperial Legion will be almost nothing like the 3rd Era Imperial Legion. The Septims are no more, and (as far as we know) the Mede line will be in power for Skyrim. If you read The Infernal City, you can see that Titus Mede rules very differently from Uriel Septim. Although who will be in power for Skyrim is anyone's guess since it takes place about a century and a half after The Infernal City.

That being said, I would like to be able to join the new Imperial Legion. I can see it providing some very good insight into how the Empire works under Mede (or whoever's in power at the time) rule.

EDIT: note to self, get your dates straight >.<

I have the feeling you'll be able to join the imperial legion or the rebels... but this just a guess.

I expect that we'll get a very similar faction - the Imperial side in the civil war.

I think that people are just kind of in a herd mentality in thinking that the empire is now a weak shell of itself...although there is a civil war that does not mean the legion will not be present honestly it should be the opposite... I mean if florida started a civil war to separate from the United states don't you think they would send tons of soldiers to keep that from happening..... You see I dont think the legion is totally weak in skyrim I just think there is a Powergrab at the very top

I never said the Empire is a weak shell of its former self. In fact, in The Infernal City, it's rapidly regaining power after Titus Mede took the throne. All I said is that it's nothing like the Uriel Septim's Legion. Titus Mede's personality is a LOT different from Uriel Septim's.

I voted yes, even though I probably wouldn't join them myself, but you never know. It's always possible the pro-Imperials are selflessly fighting for a unified and peaceful Tamriel, and the rebels are self serving and power hungry, in which case I would give the legion a chance.

I wasn't picking one comment out on the herd mentality about the empires weakness... I was just saying alot of people in general think that skyrim will be more of a wild west than a Imperially controlled civil war torn region

Is the Cyrodiilic empire even in Skyrim? The only thing known, is that it seems as though Skyrim already broke off, and Titus Mede hated to send spies there, as it was highly risky.

I'm going to go with the assumption that Skyrim is not part of the Cyrodiilic empire (till proven otherwise), and thus, no Imperial Legion.

Shouldn't the Legion, or what's left of it, be fighting to prop up the pro-empire faction?

i think the only country to break off from the empire is black marsh and valenwood right now, but half of the timeline is still incomplete,
plus i thinks the legion is one side of the civil war (or at least nords who want to still be part of the empire) and the other side is nords who wish to break off form the empire

correct me if im wrong i dont know everything
i would like to see if i can join one side or the other though. change how i kill alduin at the end and change who helps me
