Joining the Imperial Legion, Confirmed

It only makes sense I mean, if you can join the Stormcloaks, then why couldn't you join the Legion?

I am a bit iffy on the cleared tags, what are the triggers for a cleared tag? Killing every enemy and looting every single item from the epic Daedric helm to every rusty dagger and pocket lint you find at the bottom of each crate and the fungus growing on the wall? Or only looting and killing the Important things? And if so what constitutes an Important thing?

Well that depends, could you join the Mythic Dawn? The Sixth House? The Enclave? In this case it seems you can join the Legion however to just assume would be unwise.

Does this mean we will finally be able to reign righteous hell upon The Dark Brotherhood?

Nope.

Remember Adamus Philida?

The Brotherhood always wins.

Let's face it, both factions will eventually have a top rung of greedy, arrogant, self serving nobles, quite happy for decent men to fight and die so they can get more power for themselves. Who to support? Whoever is most useful to you.

"Where's your uniform?"

Oh crap, we'd better create another Imperial Legion Badge mod...

Very good news, assuming it's a moderately big guild with a decent amount of quests.

If not, meh...

Enemy?
More like the desperate and hopeless peacekeeper.
Because I expect the fight between Pro-empire nord forces and nord Rebels
While Legion act as the mediator trying to protect as much innocents as they can from the horrors of the civil war

Okay, so I'm confused.

I thought the civil war was between the rebels and the empire (the Legion). But, according to you guys, the war is between the people of Skyrim who are 'pro-empire', and the people of Skyrim who are 'anti-empire.' So, the Imperial Legion doesn't have any other part in this civil war other than 'peacekeeper'?

If true, then it would make sense. It has been confirmed that you can join the Legion or/and the Stormcloaks (who are anti-empire). I am speculating then that there is no possibility of joining the pro-empire Skyrimians, 'cause that would change the story too much. Think about it. If the only role the Legion has in Skyrim is as 'peacekeeper,' then that would mean they don't have too much of an effect on the outcome of the story. And if Betheseda allowed you to join the Stormcloaks, but did not allow you to join the pro-empire folks, then there would not be a strong possibility of different outcomes and screwing lore. Understand that, according to my thoughts, there is a distinction between the Legion itself AND the people of Skyrim who are pro-empire.

Just some food for thought.

Bethesda could just have the Argonians invade Skyrim after the civil war, that way it doesn't matter what side the player chooses. All hail the Hist!

I really wanted to join the Legion in Oblivion, but was always sad that I couldn't... I'll be really happy if I can do so in Skyrim, but I doubt it'll be as fun as it would have been when in the Capitol Provence... I don't expect the Legion to have much of a strong presence in Skyrim. Especially with multiple Holds, each of which having it's own justice systems, and with a civil war amongst the people themselves...

The war is about if Skyrim should stay with the Empire (Pro-Empire) or secede and declare to be sovereign (Rebel). It's an internal war not against the Imperial Legion itself, but between the two sides in Skyrim. The imperial legion is just in the middle of it all.

Is it possible to be a b*tch and destroy them within, through systematic corruption? If not, i'll be a sad pony.

Captain: Where's your uniform, soldier?
Player: Oh, right [picks up uniform dumped at Captain's feet and puts it on]
Captain: That's better! Here is your quest...
Player: Thanks. [takes off uniform and dumps it at Captain's feet]

That means six confirmed factions, right? I'm sure the Stormcloak Rebellion and the Imperial Legion are both at least half as big as the Arena from OB, which means everyone can stop complaining about lack of factions now!

We don't know how big they are...
Sure, we can hope them to be moderately big, but for all we know they might as well be something minor like The Blades in Oblivion.

I truly hope for moderately big. It would be so nice with more factions that's actually worth... eh, joining and that adds something of value to the game.

I can't believe they'd be that small. All the minor factions in Oblivion were joined by completing a quest, but here they just ask you right up front to join. That's gotta mean there's real content in them.

Fantastic news. Politics FTW!

Remember, Bethesda ORIGINALLY confirmed only 3 factions, then it turned out the DB was a 4th. Now we may be getting a 5th and 6th.

This gives me great hope. Bethesda has learned from the mistake in Oblivion and focused on content.

I hope Radiant Story can play a role with the tiny guilds.

Hope you're right. It would be awesome :P

The Imperial Legion was one of my favourite guilds in Morrowind and I missed it in Oblivion.

"Where's your uniform?"

I cannot even count the number of times I've had to steal or buy a uniform because I needed to talk to a member of the legion and I forgot to bring mine. :P

I wonder what other "minor" guilds will be in Skyrim? So far it seems we have the Stormcloaks, Dark Brotherhood, and now the Legion.
