Joining the Legion - Clear out Fort Hraggstad

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 5:30 am

Hey guys, I'm experiencing a game breaking bug/glitch with the starting Legion mission.

I already long ago cleared out Fort Hraggstad before starting the Legion quest, so when I returned after receiving orders from Legate Rikke the Legion were already occupying the entire fort. The problem is that the objective arrows are merely pointing to an empty spot on the prison floor (not in the main annex of the fort itself), yet despite how many times I return to Solitude the Legate impatiently continues to remind me that I have yet to complete the mission.

Thus far I've:

- Used various magics/weapons/shouts on the marked spots to no success.
- Returned to Solitude on foot and via fast travel (apparently some glitches can occur as a result).
- Scoured everything within a mile of the fort to clear away human enemies.
- Talked to every Imperial soldier in and around the fort.

Yet I'm still told to complete the mission each time I return to Rikke. Unfortunately my save is too far gone, so I cannot return to an earlier point in which the glitch does not exist, so now I'm finding myself pulling out my own hair at my inability to continue the quest and continue the story in any meaningful fashion. Can anyone help? Or is this something that we're going to have to wait for a patch to fix?

If you can't revert to a pre - quest activation save then maybe you could try waiting 30 in game days and see if there is a reset but if the quest is active and the fort under Imperial control I doubt it will work.

These cleared forts are one of the biggest holes in the Civil War questline and a regular source of aggro.

The worse news is that any patch will probably not fix it once it is active in your log.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried the 30 day wait but the Imperials are still occupying the fort, so I'll have to abandon that idea. Until the developers actually put some effort into this bug I'm stuck going without my intended path, and as much as I enjoy the game I have no desire starting a new character.
