Joke Artifacts

Post » Tue Jul 19, 2011 5:31 am

The redundantly enchanted and just plain bizarre items from the series have always been my favorites. Morrowind gave us the Bi-polar Blade (Frenzy and Calm on strike), the Boots of Blinding Speed (Completely blinds you, but massively boosts speed), and the Crosier of St. Llothis (Basically kills you if you swing at anything) to name a few. Oblivion had much less, and the only one I can think of is Lord Rugdumph's Sword (Absorb Speechcraft). So what items like these would you like to see in Skyrim, and how many do you think will be implemented?

If you'd like to, go ahead and make up your own. I'd be interested to see what you can come up with. Well... maybe, I'm picking up this strange aluminum scent with a faint hint of worms.

Keep in mind daedric artifacts like Wabbajack or the Fork of Horripilation don't really fit into this sort of thing, at least I don't think so.

Go crazy. :batman:

I want to see the 'Lyre of Building'. A small musical harp that when its strings are plucked... it says in a comedic voice.... 'Yeah... that's right... I am the one who built the white gold tower.' or "That big volcano there in Vvardenfell... yep... I built that too.."

Should also throw in a few nods to older games, by having some knockoffs of legitimate artifacts.

rake of deep dark despair it would be an enchanted rake that casts demoralize 100% on you and your opponent but breaks in one hit and is unrepairable thus putting you into deep dark despair :P

Under the catagory of "Daedric artifacts", are most of the items in the museum in the Shivering Isles and those like the "Calming Pants!" included? If not, than those.

I'd say things like calming pants and ring of dessication count towards a non-daedric joke item, I just didn't want mention them because almost every item in SI was weird in some way.

I want the return of the scrolls of Icarian flight from Morrowind, you know the ones that you can loot from the mage that falls right out of the sky that increases your acrobatics by 1000 which you usually encounter early in the game

If stamina will knock the player to the ground when it goes to 0 like it did in Oblivion, I would want to see the Mace of Sloth, which would automatically deplete the target's stamina and player's stamina at the same time, thus knocking them both to the ground at the same time.

If you've never seen the effect in Oblivion, eat about 20 pieces of rat meat at once. You'll see what I mean.

And yes, I would like the Calming Pants back as well. Can't forget the Calming Pants.

Another one I just thought up would be the Growth Stealer. It would be a sword that would have a 50% chance of either making the user smaller (half their size) and the target bigger (twice their size) and a 50% change of making the user bigger and the target smaller, but it would only have enough charges for one swing.

YES! That was one of the most awesome moments when I read one of those scrolls and tried jumping. I think I quite literally fell out of my seat laughing.

I like this one. I was always drinking the human blood potions and jumping off dive rock to see this effect. :celebration:

You could play it in Morrowind with the Entertainers add-on. :celebration:
