What do you think it's the project he's working @ Bethesda? I doubt a high profile designer like him is hired without a specific purpose. Fallout Online?
I can't post the link it's on the first page @ IGN

I don't know what to make of this atm.
Oh God, please tell me he isn't playing a major role at Bethesda as well. We don't need the designers of Destiny to play a role in the development of a Bethesda game.
LOL! He didn't write the story, did he? Gameplay is pretty solid atm.
I hope not. I'd rather they make a new IP in the Mass Effect style, open world and all things Bethesda.
please no... terrible idea..
I highly doubt they would have 2 MMOs going at the same time anyways.. you don't want to divide your players between 2 seperate games when it comes to MMOs
Why is everyone thinking Fallout? Maybe he's here for TES
Yes, if you like Elementary C++ Coding RNG Loot systems. It's not even Intermediate levels of coding that went into the loot of that game. Borderlands did RNG better than Destiny did.
If you want Bethesda to crash and burn, sure.
He was senior gameplay designer. And quite frankly, I disliked a lot of Destiny's design when it comes to gameplay. It's almost baffling trying to understand what in the hell they were thinking when designing that game. To me at least.
Of course no single person has the only say in how a game is designed, but in some form, he contributed to Destiny. So whatever his perspective may be, I will find it questionable when considering it for a future Bethesda RPG.
Update: His role at Bethesda is apparently going to be Senior Systems Designer, as he said on his Twitter.
There is nothing wrong with a developer having more than one MMO going at the same time. It has been done before.
Having said that, people seem to be keying in on his multiplayer experience as if that is the only thing he is capable of.
But just for the sake of argument that Josh Hamrick is joining Bethesda Game Studios for exactly that reason.
BGS is currently working on a project that started its design phase with a small team back in 2010/2011. This project went into full scale, balls-to-the-wall, development back when Skyrim's development officially ended. Whether that project is FO4, TES 6 or a new IP, it is a bit late for him to significantly impact that project, without delaying it for a couple of years.
Based on BGS's past track record, about now would be the latest that BGS would be starting their next, next project. That is the project that Josh Hamrick is likely to be working on.
I understand that Hamrick is a gameplay developer... however, after Destiny (which I played for some time)... I really don't want anyone who worked on that game, with bethesda. Though the shooting aspect of Destiny is great, after Destiny's complete lack of any story, I find myself just pissed off in general at all of the developers at Bungie.
Also, if it's Fallout "Online". Then I'd be pissed.
Better be fallout 4, a single player fallout
That's pretty much what I've been thinking. Assuming Beth's next big project is indeed Falout 4, it is far too late in development to make much, if any impact on it. More than likely, TES VI will come after that, and that is where we'll likely see his influence...if we see it at all.
That would probably make more sense. If indeed Bethesda has been working on Fallout 4 all this time, they're most likely nearing completion of that project and are starting up with their next title. Which would probably be another TES game. They probably wouldn't be bringing him in at the last minute just to dot the i's and cross the t's on their current project, he'd be coming in on the ground floor of their next one.
Seems obvious to me he would be working on Battle Cry....
Imo this pretty much confirms that Fallout 4 is a thing. I like the hiring although I have concerns, Destiny had great gameplay but terrible systems and those systems really bring the game down. That said I remain cautiously optimistic that this will work out.
Well, if he is, he isn't going to work for Bethesda Game Studios.
Of course, nobody understands the difference between, Bethesda, Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios. So the reports of him going to work for BGS may be mistaken.
He tweeted he's joining @BethesdaStudios, though.
Bethesda Game Studios don't have any MMO going at all because they aren't developing ESO. Overlapping fanbase aside, there are other problems, like massive financial investment and time required to create and maintain this kind of game. If we're talking about a proper MMO, not just a team-based multiplayer game or something, it would require constant development for many months to come, practically killing off any other projects BGS would like to work on. Don't forget BGS is rather small. There are good reasons why the development of ESO was assigned to a new, separate studio.
