Journal Mod, OBSE, Pluggy and Steam

Post » Fri Jan 21, 2011 11:18 am

I really hate starting new threads but my searches never really get me the info I need;

I'm trying to use the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15294 and I already have the latest OBSE. I have the steam version of Oblivion so rather than using its own folder its sitting in the main directory. I found out that the Journal mod needs a plugin ("Pluggy") so I download the newest version and install it the way it says, but when I load my game up it says Pluggy is not installed.

I realized that the two files it asked me to extract are going into the "plugins" folder in the OBSE folder, which is empty since I moved the files to the main dir.... so I copy those files into the main directory, and also into a folder called pugins in the main dir just for good measure, but the same thing happens.

in short; I need to know how (or if) I can get the Pluggy plugin working with OBSE, when my OBSE is in the oblivion install directory to work with steam.

Any help appreciated :)

There should be a folder in teh oblivion directory called 'data' this is where your mods go. There may or may not be a folder there called, OBSE, if there isnt, make one. Then inside that folder make another folder called plugins, then proceed to put pluggy there. I think thats how it works :)

Edit: folder system thing :)

And just when I thought everything was peachy, the problems start :)

Actually it's just one, simple problem; freezes. After the Journal mod started to work i did some writing, went to the arcane university to lift my suspension, then went back home to the Unfathomed Tower. When i tried using a telekinesis spell, the game froze. then tried again, but didn't bother with that spell but then it froze on an protect spell. This is fairly odd since I'm using a fairly new install of Oblivion, only a few mods and a brand new system. So far I've had no freezes or crashes of Oblivion except on exit.

Fairly easy fix since I just disabled the mod and reverted to an earlier save. Tried out a bunch of spells (including modded ones and inside and outside the tower where it happened) and all seems well. All the same I'd really like to use the mod, so here's the mod list in case anyone wants to take a look:

Natural Weather and Natural Weather HDR cannot run together.... And Max Tael weather mod is a little outdated, I suggest you to dorp it in favor of http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18305. I use it myself and it goes pretty well.

OBSE isn't in the Data folder, only the folder that's used for the various plugins like Pluggy. OBSE itself has to go into the main game folder. And you shouldn't be seeing a folder in the main directory, all the files need to be loose in there.

No suggestions for you, but you should go ahead and get the unofficial shivering isle patch.
Also, what is ACCCGR.esp?
