"Journey to the Center of the Earth"- type setting?

Say there is a Vault so deep, it's near the center of the Earth. And there's a whole underground world around, something like the "Journey to the Center of the Earth" where you can go out the Vault and explore around the caverns and see new monsters/plants. Do you think that area will be affected by the radiation on the surface?

It would be affected by the radiation created by the core of the Earth and be super hot, little to no oxygen.

Given the sheer cost of building such a vault, the already stretched programme, and the no apparent need for such a deep vault, I'm going to have to go no.

NO, THAT ISN'T POSSIBLE AND WILL NEVER BE, IF IT WAS POSSIBLE, IT WOULD OF BEEN DONE IN THE 50S OR THE 70S.

Considering the second sentance of that article is:

The hypothesis has long been contradicted by overwhelming observational evidence, as well as by the modern understanding of planet formation; the scientific community has dismissed the notion since at least the late 18th century.

I'm going to go with, Yeah, I'm sure it cant be done.

dunno about a vault. but i could see a society of peoples that moved into elaborate cave systems when the bombs fell.
I know its already been touched on in the Fallout universe, but there could be much more done with that idea.

Not in fallout. But a Jules Verne RPG might be interesting.

SCIENCE! is great but this isn't something by Jules Verne. As agent_c already posted that the OP's idea is based on total crap from people that did not understand how the world works. The only thing in the center of the Earth is a large ball of iron and other metals surrounded by miles of molten rock. There are no worlds inside our world. Lets just stick to the other 99.8% of the surfice of the planet we have not seen yet.
