[RELZ] Julan, Ashlander Companion [No.13]

Post » Sun May 08, 2011 12:07 am

Just finished (for the umpteenth time)helping Julan get his father's bones back home with all the attendant drama. The story is better than ever.
There seemed to be some glitches I hadnt seen before but frequent saves ironed them out.

Yes, this mod is spectacular. It blends in with lore so well, I sometimes lost a feeling, where the tradittional MQ was (I have only finished game twice now). Too bad, that it isn't incorporated within mq of expansions tho.

Obviously you didn't read the readme about the Main Quest and that explains why you are stuck.

This is a Main Quest Companion Mod. It is NOT playable by characters who are past the Vivec Informants point in the main quest, and will be best used by characters who haven't touched the Main Quest at all yet. Part of what I wanted to do with this was to inject a new perspective and interest in the Main Quest for seasoned Morrowind veterans! It is playable by fairly low-level characters as a result - all that is required is the ability to reach Ghostgate and beat up three Clannfears. They're modded to have high HP, but low attacks. They're not too tough.

*Puts on Duncecap for not reading the Read-Me*

Well as the above says I messed up because I didn't read the read-me .... and recruited Julan just after the Vivec Informants Quest ... now both the main quest and Julan appear to be stuck ... is there anyway to get around this? Or am I screwed?

I think you should go back to a previous save just before you started the Vivec Informants quest in the Main Quest, then help Julan to fight off those clannfear outside the Ghostgate instead.

If s/he was able to recruit Julan, s/he should be fine. (I already answered this upthread.) ;)

Gods, its been ages since I wrote here...

Anyway, I dug out my Morrowind a few weeks ago, to play some more. Well, I've been playing without any problems for some time now, and just finished Julan's quest. He just told me to marry him, jadda jadda, but now his teleport ring doesn't seem to work properly any longer. I can still contact him, but when the dialogue window loads, he merely has his normal dialogue he'd have when in that area and standing in front of me. The problem is, he's not standing in front of me. Right now he's standing somewhere in Vos, and I'm in Dagon Fel.Getting back to him is not really a problem, of course, but the non-working teleport ring will make things rather difficult in the future. O.o I tried everything. "StartCombat player" and "StopCombat" as seen on the website. Letting him wait somewhere and then contacting him by ring - again, he only acts as if he's standing in front of me, asking if he should follow me again. I even got a new ring from his mother, but it's the same with that one.

What can I do? :brokencomputer:

Hmm, I've never heard of this before! It sounds like something's preventing his ring-dialogues from triggering, but I can't think what. You didn't add any new mods, or make any other changes to your install, did you?

[P.S. Lately I have been playing way too much Baldur's Gate 1/2, with Xan mods. It's your fault. I just thought you'd like to know! :D ]

Is it possible, that "COC" breaks the teleport ring? :whistling:

No, I didn't add any new mods lately. :( I'll try reloading an earlier save, I think where it still worked, and see if that fixes it. :(

[Hehe, my work here is done then. I hope you at least enjoy it. Otherwise I might have to feel guilty, what with it being my fault and all. ;) ]

Nope, didn't use any COC. :(

Okay, so loading an older save worked, but I haven't talked to Shani yet after the whole story with Julan and his mother and father. My suspicion is that something about her was messing with the ring. *glances evilly at Shani* <_<

No idea. I tried not to alter existing game dialogue, so it mostly should, but I did alter a couple of things that are kinda important. Load Julan after it to be safe, and lemme know how it goes!

Hi

I'm playing the quest of the ahslander informant. I've started the game with julan, but he doesn't gave me the telepathy ring. Also, when I go to the ashlander at ald skar, the game tells me I have to finish julan quest first, but, what quest is it? How can begin it? I've visited shani with julan, also he became drunk first...what must I do? Thanks!

Spoiler
Have you also been training him in his skills? I am pretty sure that part of his quest ties to that, since that is technically the whole reason he agrees to come with you in the first place - for you to teach him.

Sorry for the triple- posting, but it's the only way to get someone to read this...Now I'm stuck at the part of the "Strange forcedield" at Sanit. I've atracted some hungers there, but nothing happens. It's the script broken? what can I do? Thanks

You're doing the right thing, maybe you just need to get them slightly closer? (though it doesn't need to be all that close).

If you really think it's broken, open console, click on forcefield and type: disable

Heh. I had to do this, as my companion horde kept wiping out the hungers before I even saw them... :-)

Rrrggh ... well I've continued on ... it appears I haven't triggered some more of Julan's quests ... as I'm at the door to the Cavern of the Incarnate and being told I need to do something about Shani .... so I go to Shani and all she and Julan do is insult each other ... so ... what now? I kind of wish the FAQ was still up.

Sorry, Elricm's down right now, so so is the FAQ. I'll upload it elsewhere at some point... for now, if you can't talk to Shani 'cause Julan keeps sticking his oar in, try leaving him somewhere else and talking to her on your own.

Though its a great mod ... for a first time playing it the quests seem incredible vague and frustrating when they halt you in your tracks as it where to go back and do them.

I'm not sure if you still work on the mod, perhaps if you do, drop alittle more hints for future players? Perhaps have Julan bring up say, Shani ... his Mother (and whoever else I'm supposed to save >.>) as the need to complete those quests come up? Just my 2 p.

Technically, you can get Julan to mention Shani as soon as you get to a tavern. By getting him drunk, and having just a tiny bit of luck in a greeting. ;)

Maybe I'm just dense, after speaking to Shani I didn't see anything else to do from than on ... anyway ... who do I talk to about Mumma Julan in the Anhemsathablargagargle (Northern Grazeland Ashlander tribe) ... or do I have to wait for Shani to recover (or do something to trigger her recovering?)

MortX, have you talked to the other Ashlander tribes (hint: particularly the one she came from) about Mashti yet? (Doesn't matter whether or not you have Julan with you.) If you have, then go talk to the one person everyone in the Ahemmusa camp told you NOT to bother. Then talk to one of the people in the Ahemmusa camp about the topic that brings up.

Hope that helps!
