Jumping on creatures

Post » Sun May 15, 2011 9:12 am

I would like to able to jump on the creatures in Skyrim. Would you? I mainly want to so I can ride on a dragon's back :woot: (even though I would probably get thrown off after 5-10 seconds) and if Skyrim has a summon spider spell) I could ride a spider into battle! imagine that!

Yeah, that and I'd also like o jump on people. So many times during the arena fights, I knock my opponent down, wanting to pounce on him and jab him.
but suddenly he emits a force field making me unable to jump on, or over him.

Sounds like mario!

Personally I don't want to be riding anything into battle other than a horse. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I just wouldn't do things that way.

Mirrors edge did jumping on people pretty well. If you jumped from a ledge onto a person you would disarm them and pin them down.

From what Todd has hinted, I would be surprised one could ride a dragon. However, jumping on enemies, coupled with unarmed combat, is a good idea. The great ?Uncharted 2? comes to mind.

The devs said not to expect riding on dragons, and also refused to say anything about mounts besides horses. And on the subject of jumping upon downed opponents, I don't see how that would be possible outside of a short finishing move. Think about it, the most important factor in keeping someone pinned to the ground is based on where you are holding them, and how would you simulate them trying to throw you off? The details are simply to complicated to reproduce in such a large scale. Dream crushing complete.

"It's a-me, Mario!"
Came to mind right after reading the title :)

But really, I'd jump one a beast's back just to kill it more easily, not to ride it.

I didn't mean make them mounts, I just want to be able to jump over creatures and land on them, instead of behind them or infront of them no matter what I do.

If a downed opponent get's up the game could just push you away off them. So I would like that. It would be a bit weird... but so are invisible barriers.

Question is... Why do we (that includes me) feel the need to present these idea's? ;)

OP. No I really don't

Well it would certainly be an interesting way to deal with those creatures that otherwise just won't... die.

Well if I encounter the http://i.imgur.com/aXa9D.jpg in Skyrim, I will definitely try to beat it by jumping on it!!!

Jumping on dragons? Movies. Jumping on down opponents and pounding the living crap out of them? Real life.

It would be an interesting concept, I have killed a few things by stepping on it. It depends on what it is though. Free ride on big creatures (without it being a mount), damage to anything smaller than a tiger.

I'd only want it if I could be like Bruce Lee in "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KN9SNgWWUFs#t=1m44s". :toughninja:

While I'm not sure if it's wort time to implement this into Skyrim, I still think that it's kinda fun idea.
I can imagine myself sneaking behind a troll and then jump on him to get a piggy-back-ride.

Eww, bestiality!

Seriously though, I don't see it happening unless it is a finishing move where you jump onto the back of the spider and stab it through the thorax or jump on a dragons neck and stab it at the base of the skull. Other than that, it just seems corny. Maybe http://i764.photobucket.com/albums/xx281/Soulece/bear_cavalry2.jpg?t=1300568126 though.

I think that it would be really cool as a hand-hand perk or something, and basically the higher your strength and agility (I'm sure they're there even if we can't see them), the better chance you have of holding on to bigger and badder creatures. For creatures smaller than you, it would simply pin them down, for ones your size, you'd grapple, for bigger ones, you'd hold on to them and be able to try and attack them further. I think it'd be the coolest mechanic ever, especially if your character attempted to grab on wherever it is you land/were looking on the creature's body.

Yes it's actualy on http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GoombaStomp

Actually in Morrowind I think you could land on peoples heads and they was unable to hit you. It was to hard to pull off to be a combat tactic but it did happen, no you was also unable to hurt the target except from area effect magic.

I don't think jumping on somebody is a valid combat tactic then everybody has weapon and armor. And how to jump on an horse to mount it? Mount and blade had the option to grab and mount a horse who was running past you. I newer managed it with running horses but some other guys regularly uses the lance as a pike to kill the rider and take his horse as it passed.
