jumping (with poll)

I don't mind if the series goes for more realistic jump physics (No more floatiness/F=MA), but not a blank restriction on jump height. After a certain acrobatics level, the initiial jump force should far surpass World Records.

Exactly my position on this. Couldn't have said it better myself. Tried, but couldn't.

I hope the "mega jumps" from Oblivion and Morrowind are gone. They need to implement climbing. Maybe wall-jumping for nimble acrobats.

IDK, i don't think that acrobatics will be in the game, they replaced it with alchemy didn't they? i dont even think attributes are gonna be in the game.

I don't really like the vote options, I don't want realistic because it will be completely unrealistic. I trained as an acrobat when I was younger and most people have no idea what kind of potential they have but waste it just walking in herds on a paved sidewalk. Realism most people can hardly handle taking one stair step up at a time in real life when they should be able to carry their momentum and do a wall run if they were in shape.
Would want to see jumping different than Oblivion. In fact I thought Oblivions jumps were usually too small I would try hopping from boulder to boulder across stuff it never really worked the character could barrely make it on top of the rocks strewn around with top level acrobatics from ground level.
I like being able to get to spots or around people in style while their dumb founded trying to keep up with me. If there were a trade off like not wearing armor or only one or two light peices to be able to do it I would and it would make things more challenging but just having it flat out nerfed from out the box would blow.

Really when I'm playing Skyrim if my character can teleport from shouting but svcks at acrobatics I'm going to make my avatar/character commit suicide from a large height.

Jumping should be taken out completely as it is unrealistic. Never in my life have I seen a person jump. It's clunky and awkward, and breaks immersion.

Once you decode the elder scroll the gray fox steals you find a footnote that says the gravity on tamriel is 1/4th that of some unknown place called "earth." The mystery was finally solved.

jumping should depend on the weight of armor and other stuff that you are carrying!!! :foodndrink:

True.
Same should be with swimming and running.
Still, when you are jumping with 0 weight and maxed out strength and acrobatics, those jumps should be pretty high in my opinion.

It would be cool to be able to leap over obstacles too.
I actually think that a "realistic" jump + an ability to grab stuf and hang yourself to it is the best way. This totally changed the GTA gameplay for example. Finally you could go almost anywhere in a credible way. Of course, don't even think about doing that with a 2 handed axe in your hands.
Not too realistic though, I mean, it's a fantasy world, not a life simulation.

Although i would like to see more realistic jumping, i would also like to be able to jump like a jedi. Obviously not too high.

Vampires and werewolves, argonians, kaajhit and wood elves should get enhanced jumping ablities due to their more bestial nature.

As for the animation, instead of looking like a hovering oblivion gate (the leg shape), the arms and legs need more movement. Arms should be used for momentum during take off and if the jump is relatively high the jump should climix in a roll.

There should also be a perk at a high level to no longer take falling damage from any height. I think a mage or assassin should be able to land unharmed.

Um, where's the don't care option?

As long as I can jump, I'm good. Don't really care about the physics, animation, etc.

I don't much care but as a heroic figure I expect to be able to jump longer and higher than other "normal" people.

I prefer realisticish jumping. Like, more realistic then Morrowind and Oblivion, but still useful.
