Jungle Resources

Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:56 am

I'm creating a heavily resourced landscape mod. I'm just wondering if ayone knows of a nice "jungle" resource? I want huge dense jungles, similar to a jungle version of Black Marsh. Currently all I have are things from http://members.shaw.ca/nickyart8/ArchiesMeshes/ (not all work). I was looking at Lady E's website, but it's broken, and most of the flora isn't uploaded elsewhere. Also, where can I find a great ruin that would fit in well? An Aztec feel would be nice, but anything that would suit the jungle would be nice. I'll use dwemer ruins, if there's no alternative, but I'd rather have something new.

Also, what would fit in well creature-wise? I'd like any unique creatures I can find. I have;

Creatures of morrowind
Melchiors Creatures
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7399
Werecrocs (though I don't think the script works)

If anyone has any suggestions, It'd be groovy.

Thanks :tops:

The http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3045 has a Aztec/Mayan like temple (exterior only)

Some creatures you might find useful:
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6726
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8287

Also, I believe Midgetalien has Lady E's mod backed-up. Or I'm sure someone else around here does.

Hmm.... you could try downgrading these: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25826, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23177, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20641

Thanks. I'll be looking into these.

I've ran into a strange error:

Whenever I try to texture the raptor from http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7399, I will get all the textures to assign perfectly in NifSkope, but whenever I look in game, or in the cs, it can't find the textures. I know there's no problems with the texture paths, I've ever had a problem anywhere else, just here.

If you're interested in http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/23177-3-1237139954.jpg Rellac, it's actually from a MW resource, so oyu wouldn't even have to downgrade it.

Thanks ^_^

But the Aztec styled resource you linked earlier seems a bit... outdated.

Also, I want to create a huge lost ruin. It was once a city of some noble race, and they've turned into undead, basically. Something nice and ancient. I can't create an entire, non repetitive city with that.

Also, I'd like some more trees. There's more than just palm trees in junges, after all. Flora is actually really hard to find.

http://www.flashpacker.com/South%20East%20Asia/Cambodia/Cambodia%20Pictures/Tap%20Prohm%20-%20Jungle%20ruin.JPG seems to portay my plans for my ruins quite well.

Have you checked out the pinned resource thread? Not sure exactly what's in there but there could be some good stuff. IIRC, MightyJoeYoung had some Aztec-related stuff in on of his resource packs. Don't think I've seen any Angkor Wat-inspired resources however.

I did. There's a surprising lack of jungle flora out there. And I have no modelling skills, myself.

The dwegar has two problems with it, both can be overcome. :)

First is that the animated part of it, one of the meshes starting with X, is still pointing to earlier textures. You need to go into NIFScope and point to the correct ones.
Other problem is that one side of the head is darker, even if you tweak the texture. Fine in a darker place, but it really shows outside in the day.
Even so, it is a wonderful creature and worth using. I will be doing some dark retextures of it later on, but not for a while.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are the Dragon's Breech TC files, you need all three:

http://rapidshare.com/files/379419332/DragonsBreechAlpha2V1.3NoTextures.7z
http://rapidshare.com/files/379411602/DBTextures.7z
http://rapidshare.com/files/379419961/db_esm_patch2.7z

There are really amazing resources in that TC. Lots of plants, lots of creatures, lots of just about everything. :)

Have a look through here for buildings:

mightyjoeyoung decided to go for the mayan/aztec look for his Atlantis buildings.

A lot of what's there are resources that I've already found. I also don't like the n64 look of a lot of the flora there. It's all too bright and colourful. I'm looking for a dark, dense, scary jungle (sorry for my perfectinism)

Have a look through here for buildings:

The ruins there don't really appeal to me. Again, I apologize for my perfectionism. I just want to try and get something perfect to show off later on.

I'll try to get around some modelling progams. Blender seems really over complicated to me. Hopefully I can use a lot of recycled meshes in NifSkope. ^_^

You do know it's OK to retexture their work? And most of what is in DB is only in the actual TC. Also, she has many many plants in that TC that are animated and take alpha channel textures, so you can make your custom plants using them.

It sounds like you will have to go it alone on this, as you will have a hard time finding modelers who will make things that meet your standard of perfection. ;)
It will be a great learning experience for you however, so go for it. :)

Some good plants in there though? I think those buildings are pretty damned good. Also, some of those ruin meshes (with some texture hacking in NIFSkope) could be just what you need. OK, not Angkor Wat, but definitely ancient buildings slowly crumbling into the jungle.

I now they where good, I mean, I could never do better, I'm just being picky. I'm actually having a look around to do some modelling. Been looking at some designs, mostly. http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20050901055004/wowwiki/images/2/20/Zul_gurub_ss2.jpg is a perfect example of how I would want my ruins. I love the colour of it, and the patterns around it. And just the general shape of the architecture. Those ruins before where a bit too bare for my taste, even if they where complete buildings.

Don't be offended by anything, not trying to be mean.

EDIT: I think this could actually be achieved through retextured dunmer strongholds, and some daedric stuff...

Yeah, I think a mix of vanilla meshes and some modder-made ones that've been re-textured to form a coherent whole would work for the architecture. Then it's just a case of cluttering with exotic flora; those huge trees make me think jdooby's meshes would work a treat, it looks like a giant trama root in the bottom left, but I don't think I've seen any celery trees.

[Edit: Actually re-reading that I think what your getting at is the texturing of the model and not the number of faces it has. Adding trim and decoration, like a decorative frieze running round the circumference, through textures could work a treat]

Don't be offended by anything, not trying to be mean.
Not offended, just exasperated. You seemed to be snubbing perfectly good meshes, OK some of the UV work on MJY's stuff is... er... basic (like one tiled texture over everything (like those ruins) but with a bit of work they could work. And the actual Aztec buildings in there were great.

Also don't underestimate what a good bit of cluttering can do to add interest to an otherwise plain mesh. Add fungi, vines and other small plants. Anyway... hope your plans come to fruition!

i agree with you Dragon32 about MJYs meshes. with a bit of work to the uv maps and a few new textures ive been able to some some nice things with them.
first retexture job i ever attempted. ill be redoing them but great mushroom resource meshses i have all of MJY's mesh packs.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj101/mystery052/stems.jpg

just takesa bit of looking but i think i have close to 30 or more tree pack resources. ill try to see if i can find some of them. good luck with your mod.

I don't know, but I doubt it, I googled "Jungle Ruin"

What I actually need most, is flora. It's very hard trying to get it. I would like something that has large leaves, similar to ferns, or palm trees. I can't just resize palm trees, though, that would look stupid.

Hey, Relac, SI's ruins are in the spirit of what you're looking for. You want something to replace the lime stone Ayleid ruins, or old Nedic ruins, correct?

Though I was thankful for his upload of the desert city pieces :tops:

I actually have both of these in use, thanks, though.

SI? Shivering Isles? I'm actually looking for a Morrowind resource pack. If SI stands for a modder, I'd be happy to have a look, and downgrade them if you can give me a link.
