Is it better to scrap all junk items or does the workshop extract other materials from the junk as you craft items like I thought it did?

The game will automatically scrap raw items when needed.


But I like my things to be neat, so every junk I gathered from the recent run will be scrapped first.

The extras are saved. But one thing to keep in mind: some "junk" is worth more in other ways than as materials.


Pre-war money, cigarettes, and the gold lighters sell for enough that you're better off selling them. And baseballs can be made into grenades.
