Jury Rigging Perk not working as expected

Jury Rigging Perk - Level 14, Requires Repair 90 (I have 100) - "Repair any item using a roughly similar item."

I have the Gobi Sniper Rifle, and before this perk, Sniper Rifles (though EXTREMELY rare to find) would allow me to repair the item. After getting this perk, I have tried EACH and EVERY weapon I've come across, hoping it would be "roughly similar" enough to let me use it to repair my Gobi Rifle. But nothing is.

Am I missing something? Is this Perk bugged, or just useless for rifles as rare as Sniping Rifles?

I know for a fact the service rifle works. It probably is set up as part of the assault rifle line for some reason.

In my experiance, with this perk, the only weapons that can repair it is the Anti Material Rifle, the LMG, or the 12MM Silenced Sub Machine Gun.

I could SWEAR that the Service Rifle doesn't repair it.

Right now I have 2 (1 for use, and the other for parts when the first gets worn out) When I mouseover my Gobi rifle, it does not highlight allowing me initiate repairs on it.

Wow. I've never even come across any of those weapons, and I'm Level 28, lol. Great. If that holds true, then the JR Perk requires super rare weapons or 5000-8000 caps for a full repair. Frick n' Frack!

Thank goodness for Weapon Repair Kits. (I'm always on the lookout for the ingredients. I think I have almost 20 stashed in my motel room. They're what's keeping my Trail Carbine running at the moment...)


But, yeah.... that perk sounds less than awesome in some cases. :/

I can repair an Anti-Materiel Rifle with a Varmint Rifle. Sniper Rifles seem to be the only awkward ones.

That was the kind of repair ability I was hoping this perk would give me. Rifles are rifles, Pistols are Pistols, sure it may still differentiate between energy/lead, but still...
