Just because you have a character doesn't mean that you have

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 10:41 am

'hardcoe' is establishing an identity for your character and not deviating from it throughout the game, even if it means missing out on content and not being able to do things 'efficiently'. Like my mercenary runs around in the best armor with the biggest weapon he can find and is good at haggling prices from his clients. He will not do favors or tasks without the promise of payment up front. I think he will be siding with House since that is the only faction that offers you wealth (can't remember if the Legion do, but I doubt it). Greed is his motivation and I make sure that everything he does is self-centered without being evil because pissing everyone off just makes the job harder than necessary.

Ah why did I not think of a Merc character? I know what my character will be thanks a ton  .

I had a deathclaw surprise attack me. I was level 4 I had 255 hp he hit me once I was dead, I am sure the legendary deathclaw does more damage a hit. I had even used damage resistence chem no effect. Also unless you are on a xbox or ps3 not very many people will believe you. Even then they may have doubts.

Unless you get off a critical on their legs they will tear you up.

I thought that was called roleplaying.

Current Character
Black Widow
Comprehension
Handloader
Cowboy
Finesse
Silent Running
Commando

And I play on normal and use VATS so I'm not hardcoe but since the point of a RPG is to roleplay and have fun I don't particularly care

Surprisingly even the legendary deathclaw can get knocked down by super slam.

I've actually done that sir and let me tell you that with the right perks it's actually disappointingly un-challenging.

If you do fine and like your build I, you think it's good? Then why let anyone on the internet tell you different?

If I remember correctly Deathclaw's attacks ignore DT... so not having armor isn't that impressive.
However killing it with your bare hands is ridiculous.
The Legendary Deathclaw has 100 more health than even a Mother Deathclaw or Alpha Male.
It also does 250 melee which is 2x that of a regular Deathclaw which hits for 125 and more than even the Alpha Male at quarry junction which hits for 200.

In short even at lvl 40 with max DT (which is rendered useless) 10 endurance, life giver, and a ton of other + health perks the Legendary Deathclaw can squish you flat with only a few strikes.
Even with paralyzing palm its practically impossible unless you somehow paralyze him for some ungodly amount of time.

Egh just drop it. I can't prove it so arguing on behalf of it is pointless. I didn't think it was that amazing a feat, next time I do something wacky I guess I'll record it.

You would be surprised that most people confuse character progression with role-playing. A character can be role-played with static statistics while leveling up a character does not require role-playing.

A real man faces the legendary Deathclaw wearing only his underwear and armed only with a straight razor

Playing only with the prosttute outfit.

Whenever i run into some hostiles, i'm offering my body... willin, if they let me live... so far so good.
I'm also on good terms with the animals... even the Deathclaws want a piece of me.
I'am Legendary than the Legendary Deathclaw... everyone knows i'm the best and they all know i'm cheap.

[censored] my way across the Mojave Wasteland.

Ps let's play profiler on myself; you can see that i use a lot of V.A.T.S. so that means that if i see an enemy i lock on,
the game pauses, i lock on its head and push the button. So yeah, i know that i'm a toy. (played Ninja Gaiden 1 & 2 though :violin: )

I hope you pack a lot of lube along. Or you might end up having to pay Dr. Usanagi for a retread instead of an implant.

(OMG, tell me you don't put out for the Super Mutants, too...??)

Eli the Bounty Hunter. He hunts fugitives, and wrong doers, bringing them to justice with the scripture in his hand. I modelled him after the Book of Eli. He wields weapons I think a bounty hunter would use. Shotgun with nuclear buckshot and bean bag rounds, A Light Shinning as my holdout/back up weapon, and last a machete for close in work. My perks keep me self sufficient since i'm a survivalist and help me take down targets.

Rapid Reload
Intense Training Perception (need 1 point and implant for...)
Better crits
Finesse
Light Touch
Travel Light
Jury Rig
Hand loader
Grunt
Shotgun Surgeon
And Stay Back!
Action boy
Commando

and the rest is gravy...

No, that's not hardcoe, that's just being not-combat effective. I don't see the point of depriving myself of laser commander to prove that I am not "noob-sauce" as you desccribe.

If you like a character that has crappy equipment and crappy training, then all power to you, but it doesn't make you "hardcoe".

Being "hardcoe" is playing very hard + being a survivalist + adding mods that put a ton more enemies in the wasteland.
:celebration: I'm even more hardcoe than that, I play on Normal with XFO, DMG x2.

This is the first time I played it and I am level 11 so I have only got some.

I have a female unarmed fighter.
I got the unarmed skills, bloody mess and strong back so far. Some skills for strength. Cher Che Le Femme and Black Widow.

On both F3 and FNV I tend to go for skills that make you stronger. And animal friend.

Good to meat another Cannibal there seems to be fewer and fewer of us by the day...

Its the only perk I always take. Not sure I could play without it.

Only thing that irks me is those White Glove folk. Some of them have marvelous judgment, if not particularly good taste.

my character's (lore friendly) back story:

was a slave until the age of 16; when a squad of Desert Rangers killed the legionaries and freed us. I had no place to go and the clothes on my back so i joined them. i learned everything i know about guns, stealth and survival form them. i continued to serve honorably with them for many years. when the ranger unification treaty came into effect.;i did not agree. , however i lied to stay with Desert Rangers. 90% of the dessert rangers were absorbed into the NCR veteran rangers.: my self and about 50 others stayed put and continued our original mission of keeping the good people of the wastes safe form hostile tribals, muties, wild life, and slavers. we heard about

What's hardcoe is realizing what the objective is and achieving that objective in the utmost efficient way. If that means using bloody mess than so be it. I play to win not loose.

Ultimate self gimping perks:

Jury Rigging - You lazy asses who got this perk dont need it.
Infiltrator - How about you just dont force the lock?
Computer Whiz - Exit the terminal before the you get locked out moron
Light Step - Watch where you're walking and you'll be fine
By a Campfire - You could just speed travel to a bed
Junk Rounds - I tried it once and realized I would never need to use it
Night Person - Useless especially if ED-E is with you
Mister Sandman - Why not just kill them while they're sleeping the regular way?
Animal Friend - Unlike in Fallout 3, this perk is factually useless in the Mojave Wasteland because animals are very rarely ever around the other creatures. There's virtually no interaction between them.
Explorer - You dont need it
Educated - You can max out without it
Comprehension - You can max out without it
Here and Now - The most uselsess of them all

Ok, there's more but I'll stop.
