Just Bought Doom 3 BFG Edition. Won't work. Help!

Hello, I just bought Doom 3 BFG edition for my PC on Steam. I installed it and when I went to install the things I need to be installed to actually play it, the first thing installed, then the second thing. The second thing that needed to be installed was the Microsoft VC Redist Package. It would say its installing, then it would stop and not play. I went to the forums on Steam for help, and I learned I'm not the only one having this exact problem. One of the suggestions on how to fix it was to download a file which I don't want to risk downloading a virus. So, any suggestions guys? I didn't get any error message just it said it was downloading the Microsoft VC Redist Package then it stopped downloading, the window telling me it was downloading disappeared. I pressed play again and it said the Microsoft VR Redist Package was downloading. Then the same thing happened over and over.
But a copy of the DXDiag file I couldn't find in the files.
I grew up with Doom, and I really wanna enjoy all the doom games all over again. So, is there anyway I can fix this?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Brian

What OS are you running? 64 or 32 bit?

I just got it for my laptop on steam and it works like a charm.

Are your video drivers up to date?

I have exactly the same problem and no solution yet.

I had non-Steam version before and it worked fine. Just bought Steam version, uninstalled the old one. It does not start: exits immediately.

Solutions with atioglxx.dll didn't help.

Bethesda customer support has auto-response (try compatibility mode - I did, no difference).

My setup is Windows 10 Pro (64-bit of course), Radeon R9 390.

As I'm saying, non-Steam version worked just fine on my config. Tried to do some debugging but Steam returns error code, probably related to copy protection.

Sadly, I just requested a refund from Steam. I tried literally everything but with no success. It's very upsetting when you get excited to play a game franchise you grew up with and it turns out it doesn't work. It seems I ran into the same problem with buying games that don't work more than once on Steam. Wish there was a mandatory rule on Steam that lets you play the game to see if it works. Oh well. :(
