Hey guys, I'm a huge fan of Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Brink, so I'm hoping I'll like this! A co-worker suggested I get this game, so I'm downloading it right now. Any thoughts on the game? What do you like better, Fallout or The Elder Scrolls? Why?

Wow, well, judging from your signature, I feel the need to point out that this is not a first-person shooter by any stretch of the imagination, and I don't even really consider it a first-person game. It's also less serious than those games and I can't say I'd necessarily suggest Oblivion to you given your current line-up, but I'd say your co-worker knows you far better than I do.

I like The Elder Scrolls way more than the Fallout series, and I really enjoyed FO3 and New Vegas, more NV than FO3 though. That said, Oblivion is only like those two games in the fact that it uses the same engine. The gameplay, environment, combat, etc. is entirely different. What you liked about those two games may be absent in Oblivion. Or you might find a whole new series that you like way more than the Fallout series.

I don't like Fallout so Oblivion wins by default ;)

Why do I like the Elder Scrolls? I love fantasy, for one thing. Elves, Dragons, magic, sword-wielding skeletons, I love it all. Also, I like combat with swords and bows and magic. I like TES's lore. I absolutely love the landscapes, in both Morrowind and Oblivion. I love the beautifully evocative music in both games.

Why do I dislike Fallout? Two reasons. 1.) I hate games with guns. 2.) I hate post-apocalyptic wasteland settings. Most of all, I resent Fallout3 because it took time away from developing the next Elder Scrolls game. ;)

I like them both a ton, but TES has to win because of the magical fantasy setting.

I Have FO3 And NV, I Enjoyed them very much but Honestly, Oblivion wins, Lore, Gameplay and story, Love it, But it is pretty old and clunky, So don't play the game for a few mins then judge it without playing it properly, Al least try to finish the main quest, then if you like it, Move onto the guilds/side quests.

Yeah Talos is right, Oblivion grows on you, the thing is their is so much to learn in this game it's insane and the more you learn and understand the game the more you enjoy it, well atleast I do. Fallout 3 is in my top three of all time I really enjoyed that game but oblivion has given me almost twice as much gameplay time and I've just started a Breton warrior! I see another 100-200 hours of my life spent on this character.

I just now realized that all ther games in my signature are all FPS but two of them, haha. Well I really like RPGs, I just haven't been playing them as much.

I like FO3, but I LOVE TES. It's a much richer world and has entangled me for years.
