If you aren't playing hardcoe, or you are but you have a companion to offload some stuff to, buy a lot of ammo from the Gun Runners, Silver Rush, etc, even types you don't need, you can use it to barter with in later sales. If the ammo runs out, start buying weapons too.

Naughty boy...you were supposed to "let it go" and remain poor but virtuous. And remember, every time you buy a stimpack or Weapon Repair kit from the vending Machine, God kills a kitten. ;)

The kittens deserve it.

Also thanks for reminding me about the ammo and buying other things woohoo.

I now have a constant supply of nightvision and other various goodies. I decided to buy as much blanco mac and cheese as possible and stack my bunker with plenty of stockpiles of food, ammo, and supplies. My brotherhood bunker looks very well prepared.

I'll never understand why the food comes out radiated though.

The next DLC better have a nice base with herds of molerats, bighorners, and various insects for ingredient farming. My own brahmin, molerat, bighorner, and ant farm. The dream. hehe

Seriously? You hadn't thought of that? Wait till you read this, if you exchange all your SM chips for pre-war money the exchange is 1 for 1. Even with low barter of 35 you can exchange pre-war money 4 to 1 anywhere in the Mohave. I went to the gun vendor bought 2600 worth of guns and ammo, paid 700 and took all his cash went back the next day he had more caps on hand to the tune of 8000. I bought half his inventory and the caps and I hope I can do this until hes got enough caps on hand to start cashing in my gold bars.

no I like the idea of having a bunker where I can stay during the second apacolypse a lot better. I got enough money anyway.

Lowest I've gone in is at L16, mostly because I wanted certain perks first and also to have certain skills high enough, and didn't really have any problems.

Going to try at a low level next, as the Ghost People seem to scale accordingly and most of the comps and locks do not need that much skill either (getting a high enough Medicine skill at the same time is going to be tricky, though). Might actually need the many skill magazines that are lying around for some of it. Should be an interesting run, since I'll be working on pretty slim margins compared to the L26 character I went in with most recently who breezed through.

Being on PC I discovered that version has the push back effect at the force field working right (on Xbox it's direction is backwards) and prevents just walking out with all the gold. Have to keep dropping those bars until they're on the other side of the force field and then run like the wind.

How are you guys doing this?

I tried following http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYuJb0_TbwM, but the blue energy shield on the door shuts off just long enough for him to step through, then immediately turns back on, making it impossible to do what is shown in the video.

Also, trying to drop the bars 'through' the energy shield doesn't work either...they just bounce off.

Argh. This DLC was a gruelling endurance test of patience, with very little fun for me. Making off with all the gold would take some of the annoyance i feel at buying it...

I don't know how that kid is pulling it off in the video, because that shield is designed to come down when you reach a certain distance from it.

Dropping the bars in the right spot is extremely annoying. In the several times I've been through the DLC, I've only managed to drop them on the other side one time. All the rest, I drop them (after many tries) very close to the shield, run around, and use the camera-glitch-grab technique to get them and get out about half a second before my collar goes. You need to be just the right distance from the shield when you drop the bars or they fall too far, or just fall off the edge. But this method is possible.

After all the annoyances of the DLC, and the annoyance of trying to get all the gold, it is VERY satisfying to walk out of there with all 37 bars. Very, very, very satisfying.

Ah, poop. i'm actually pretty good with the rotating camera glitch (works well on NCR tents full of troops, when you're on the outside wanting to steal from something inside). But i think i'm just glad it's over. i don't know how you managed to play it several times. Once, on normal difficulty with hardcoe mode enabled, was enough for me. Since posting i realized the game won't let you manipulate gold bars once dropped either, so ehh.

i'm all about housing and collecting, so the guitar and Vera's dress made it worth it i guess. And the embalming fluid. Pretty green glow!

Edit: Aaaaaand now ED-E is hostile and killing everyone in sight. Sigh.

It took me several tries before I got the timing right. It isn't--or isn't just--a proximity effect, it's a matter of timing from when the field drops until Elijah apparently puts it back up again. If Elijah spots you or you wait too long, the jig is up. There isn't enough time to sneak all the way through that door, you have to stand up and walk (well, waddle, given the load) to get through in time. But with the right timing the field goes up right behind you, leaving an easy walk to the elevator.

After all the annoyances of the DLC, and the annoyance of trying to get all the gold, it is VERY satisfying to walk out of there with all 37 bars. Very, very, very satisfying.

Amen, brother! (Actually, I left one bar behind so that Elijah could contemplate it for the rest of his miserable life.)

I *always* try to do every DLC at fresh out of the start, if I can. Just to see if I can do it. I was able to do all 5 of FO3's DLC at lvl 2. I TLC'd up into the air right after racing through the vault trying not to get any xp at all. I tcl'd all the way to the start point for each dlc so I didn't get any xp getting there, and consoled myself the caps to pay for the ferry to get to PL. I came out of each one at about lvl 7 or 8, with tons of swag. They were all very hard at first, MZ being the hardest, but once you get a few weapons, they weren't really that much of a challenge. I'll *try* DM at some point this way, right at lvl 1. I assume I won't be able to do it. I think the clouds will be too much.

-Gunny out.
