Well I'm in college so I kinda feel your pain but as someone said waiting a few hours won't kill you

Actually i love the relese date, since the 10 it's also my birthday.
They release most media on Tuesday so its easier to collect data on a true full week of sales. That way the first week of data is a full week of sales. If you were to say release on Monday, the full weekend of sales wouldn't be in.
Not sure why Fallout 3 was released on a Tuesday since October 23 would be a far better date to have it release, but Skyrim and Fallout 4 doesn't care what day they have their release. Skyrim was for the magical 11/11/11 date which was on a Friday and Fallout 4 was for the 11/10/15 date. If November 10 landed on some other date this year, then I am certain they would have used that.
Personally, I hate releasing software and major patches on a Friday since there is always the chance of the dreaded hotfix. Lots of people are not really there on a Friday due to them dreaming about the weekend. Do you really want people with that mentality trying to patch your game?
Interesting...that's a really stupid reason though, I hate puns
svcks to be you guys! Here's my tuesday as a University Student.
One rediculously difficult exam, some studying (https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=F7BFC85C24456A23!31535&authkey=!AM0LMvL8oUAahJU&v=3&ithint=photo%2Cjpg of one of the things my final covers) two computer science programs to write (Dijstkra's Shortest Path, and a Process Scheduler), a fricken 15 page Technical Editing assignment to do, a doctor's appointment for an inflamed sciatic nerve, AND I CAN STILL FIND TIME TO PLAY
Sad, but true. If the game came out October 23, then some people would be complaining that it didn't come out in September or it should have come out in November to fix all the bugs.
I'd rather they change Tuesday to Friday for the global release date of games, like in the music industry. Seems more suitable.
But yeah doesn't worry me either way.
You get paid on tuesdays? thats....different AFAIK
Well, 11.11.2011 was a friday. I believe Beth has always tried to make releases close to a significant date.
I say predownload from mo.-th. then allow playing the game friday at 12:00. Mid-weeek releases are completely stupid for players. I have maybe like 3-4 hours to enjoy the game before being forced to bed cause of my job...or I just don't sleep 3 days, we'll see.
I notice the people who are saying it's stupid are also the ones unable to play at that date, or even on that hour.
Always thought Wednesday and Friday should have been the street days, but I am not businessman, so what do I know. Less than 48 hours until this game is released, sounds good right now.
I like the tuesday releases. Gives me a chance to download whatevers required hopefully by the following weekend.
Nothing worse than looking forward to a friday release and playing it over the weekend, only to spend it just downloading the game or updates
Ok, one more time for those who were not paying attention in Game Design class.
The whole idea is to annihilate productivity and increase sick days. You cannot do that on a Friday.
easy. its to manipulate the stock markets. you'll have lots of people taking this week off, and productivity will go down. when this happened, it'll impact sales in many other industries. =P
its something to do with the sale chart or something along the lines of that.
Games always release either Tuesday or Friday. Typically Tuesday but Friday is not unheard of.
edit: In fact, not long ago before worldwide releases were common, games would release on Tuesday in the west and Friday in the east. Skyrim was weird at the time for doing a worldwide release, though I'm sure the date had something to with that, ofc.
Tuesday is the day on which great many companies release their games. It allows them a day to make extra preparations before release if needed (Monday) and an entire week to fix whatever issues might arise. Friday would be horrible for them because if something arose, be it a major bug, some retailer issue or whatever else, they would be forced to work on the weekend.
