I just experienced the most absurd AI in this game I think.

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 3:43 am

Well, I was in my house in Markarth, with my wife, Mjoll the Lioness. I am the Thane of Markarth so, I have the Housecarl. He's a guy, can't remember his name.

So, one day I come strolling in, and have a lot of loot on me I was going to put in my chest. Well, I go over to the dummy to set him up and I accidentally dropped my Daedric Helmet (Legendary) and the most hilarious thing ensued.

"Well..what do we have here.." said my Housecarl the instant I dropped it.
"Back off, it's mine!" Shouted my wife, Mjoll.
"Not if I get to it first!" retorts the Housecarl.
"AGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" screams Mjoll as she comes RUNNING out of our bedroom and literally knocks him out cold with one fell swoop of her Daedric Battleaxe I gave her.

I just sat there, horrified, as my wife stood over a bloody nord corpse, and said "It's good to see you again, dear!"

I haven't seen anything like that, but that's still pretty funny.

The weirdest thing I've seen so far is Ysolda fall over dead for no apparent reason.

So apparently dropping anything with a decent/high value gets people killed.

Yes, apparently. Although I reloaded the save because my wife just murdered someone, and I tried it again with a different item and they didn't do it. So it might be random.

I had a similar fight happen in Riften by the traders market when I went to un-equip my Ebony helmet I acidentally dropped it, three different citizens started argueing over it, and then it turned an all out brawl in wich two guards eventually joined in on, couldn't help but laugh.

Then you killed your wife to get your helmet back? lol

Try again in a bigger place... More crowded :D

When I dropped an item in Windhelm, the woman politely asked me if she could pick it...

The poor people of Skyrim need to fight until dead to get expensive items. A sad reality. I personally blame the Black-Briars.

I just found this hilarious. I mean, number one, I didn't even know NPC's reacted to dropped items.
Let alone KILL each other for them. LOL. It was absurd.

No wonder there aren't more people in Skyrim. Whenever a ring gets loose or a helmet knocked to the ground, ordinary people rush into a free-for-all deathmatch.

Lol! No kidding. But at least the game world is mildly populated.

I dropped stolen blacksmith clothing in Whiterun, and as I'm walking away a little girl runs up to me: "Excuse me, sir, you dropped this." So I had to drop it again 'cause I didn't want it.

It sounds like a great gaming moment and demonstrates the beauty of imperfect AI. And now I'm off to try a similar thing.

I had the opposite happen, dropped a bunch of things on the ground because i was over encumbered to have some guy walk up to me and say somthing on the lines of 'hey i think you dropped this." I raged, dropped it all again and killed every killable NPC in whiterun, then reloaded.
