JUST finished main story and Point LO. Help a guy decide whe

As the title says, would starting wanderer's edition NOW rather than starting a new game be a fun and good idea? I don't have HEAPS of time and don't want to re start this long game. I still have the other expansions and TONS of areas in the wasteland i haven't even explored yet.

Share your thoughts please. Help me understand how I should view this add on. Is it awesome?

Thanks!!!

Personally I would finish this game as is, and start a new one with FWE when you're ready.

After playing vanilla a lot on the PS3 and moving to the PC and starting fresh with FWE (amongst many other mods) it was a very fun and challenging experience. To experience FWE in it's fullest you should start fresh IMO.

I would start a new game for FWE. Loading it into the middle of a pre-existing game could make for some interesting encounters.

I think you're all probably making sense BUUUUUT....i honestly don't want to deal with going through the entire game again. Frankly, I DRREEAD having to go through all those tunnels to get to the museum etc. Won't that just svck !?!?!

With my dread in mind, could I make it work where i am currently in game? And just use the FWE as a fun way to simply "explore the wasteland" and find the areas of the game I never even visited yet?

There's no harm in trying, just make sure you back up your save game so you can go back to it if your not happy with the results. And make sure to wait out the spawn time in an indoor area with no npc's, like one of the grayditch places. Of course one of the effects of doing this is the tunnels will be repopulated again with some very tough creatures/npc's.

You know, once you've played fallout as much as I do (I swear I've done every main, DLC, and misc at least 5x, I honestly can still say I find new things while playing) you start to know how to work the angles. You find different routes, ways to exploit your situation and your enemies, and you can literally complete the main quest very quickly if that's your ultimate goal. I've heard claims that people can beat the vanilla main quest start to finish in less that five hours, but I've never done it, or have I done all the main quests in a row, or even two main quests in a row. Heh.

man this is neat. Someone like you can STILL find new things. Such an awesome game. I'd recommend reading my other post about 3d and how Nvidea 3d vision has really improved the immersion of this game. Anyway, are you super pumped on New Vegas then? Is FWE really that much harder? WIll starting over just take forever with FWE enabled?

To give you an idea on the size and amount of content in this game i have played nearly 250-300 hrs on 360 and today i still found two buildings ive never been in. For your next character how about playing using a different build, or RP so it gives you some oppurtunities to do other things.

I've had no issues applying FWE to ongoing games. If you don't want to start a new game, load FWE into your old one without any worries for I've had no reason for any.

What I did was beat the vanilla game and DLCs without mods, then overhauled it on a new playthrough. Comparing the two, it's definitely an enhanced experience. FWE adds lots of new weapons, such as making unique weapons truly unique, example being the Ol' Painless is scoped and silenced, The Terrible Shotgun uses a clip instead of a drum, etc. New weapons taken from fallout lore include the pulse Pistol and Rifle, among other weapons returning in past games.

The game is a lot harder, you have to eat, sleep, drink, to stay alive. Bartering at low levels is not always profitable. But the game is still beatable, and the extra challenge will make you appreciate the experience that much more.

FO:NV is taking a lot of nods from FWE, such as more unique unique weapons, Thirst, weighted ammo, etc etc. And I know devs have posted here and there stating how much they enjoyed playing the game they made with FWE. So yes, I'm looking forward to Vegas.

ok well i need a bit of help. I downloaded FWE and the FOModManager and script extender. I was able to use FOMM to "incorporate or add" FWE and install successfully. When i launch Fallout 3 from the FOMM it ha a warning come up IN GAME onto my screen. It says that FWE requires scritp extender and that I either dont have it installed correctly or ....blah blah. Then it DOES tell me that I have certain new notes in my inventory about bullet time etc.

Ok honestly, I was surprised i even made it this far wihtout a problem. I can handle dloading mods and extracting them to the data folder, but all of this is tedius. This should be a simpler process. That being said, what do i do NOW to get script extender "working" or whatever. Also, i may of downloaded Fallout 3 from steam...or direct to drive. I don't even remember. Still, i thought i found a work around for script extender even if i did.

Help me please and KEEP THINGS SIMPLE !!!!

thanks yall

I'd start again if adding a major mod like FWE if I were you. If you must continue with an old vanilla save then at least wait three days for everything to reset before venturing out. Even then things may not be as they should be. So, in all honesty, start a new game.

Please stay on topic folks. I need help. I also listened to about hafl way through that 30 mintue 4 different you tube videos link someone posted. Would much rather have a simple way to do this and just put the mods into my data folder. Also, I am using the Direct 2 drive version (90% i remember that correctly). This is taken DRECTLY from SOSE on fallout nexus.

* FOSE doesn't launch with the Direct2Drive version:
- The Direct2Drive version of Fallout is not supported.

so...uh....great. Does this mean that I cannot use Fallout Wanderer's edition? Every time I start Fallout 3 it seems like all the mods are loaded and working...but then it cointinues to say

"Fallout Wanderer's Edition requires FOSE to function. Either you don't have it installed correctly or you have a bad version blah blah.....more stuff i can't recall exactly blah..."

It also gives the same warning for weapon mods. a window comes up every 10 seconds non stop that says these things.

In a nutshell....how do i get my game to see/recognize SOSE. I have it downloaded correctly i believe. Direct 2 Drive makes FWE IMPOSSIBLE????

Thanks for all your help

You need FOSE for FWE and Weapon Mod Kits, and FOSE doesn't work on the Direct2Drive version. So if you have the Direct2Drive version, you cannot use these mods.
