Just found crows crew dead :(

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 4:25 am

Well I found his guard and the Brahmin next to him. The Brahmin was missing it's head :s. It's directly south of jury street metro station, 2 map squares down a few hundred feet away from where a scavenger lives in a destroyed house. I didn't realise they travelled this far?
The thing is there was 2 deathclaws nearby. The brahmin was missing it's head and crows body no where to be seen, eventually I found his arm but that's it. Was pretty lame as he had barely nothing. Also there's a brahmin outside of arefu with no owner too. I mean [censored] they die so easily.
So if I remember correctly there's 4? And I'm 85h in with 2 down already. Is it normal to eventually lose all of them? Not even had the chance to invest in any yet but i don't see much point anyway if they just gonna die.

Aw.. He would have been a good armor/clothing merchant. If you maxed out his inventory you could have gotten Crow's Eyebot helm. Which Add +1 to Perception but weighs 10 pounds.

It seems like they do get killed off pretty easy. I invested in the caravans and have a mod that makes them tougher and adds another guard but they still die. I guess the only way to make sure they won't die is to install a mod that sets them to essential. I found Crow dead and resurrected him. Now he wanders the wasteland alone while his Pack Brahmin waits patiently for him at Arefu. Doc Hoff's Pack Brahmin waits for him at Canterbury Commons while he wanders the wasteland alone after I resurrected him. I haven't seen Lucky or Wolfgang in a while so I wll probably find them dead somewhere too.

I think part of the problem is how slow the caravans move and how the Brahmin get stuck in a lot of places. Another problem could be how creatures will spawn in the same cell as the pc. A lot of times I have entered the Arefu surrounds and have to help a caravan fight off Deathclaws and Radscorpions (now Albinos). They can tear up a caravan pretty quick and chase down anyone trying to get away from them.

I guess it is pretty realistic. Wandering the wasteland with a slow brahmin while Deathclaws and Yao Guai prey upon you would be a short life expectancy.

Most of my early games had the caravans ripped apart rather early. I can recall the scene outside Paradise Falls being a bloodbath.

These days I use a mod to make them essential, which makes life a lot easier.

Well that's too bad. As early as I can, I get armor on those guys. Usually start with fairly decent Raider armor, then I eventually work my way up to high-end if not perfect condition power armor. It's bad karma to reverse pick pocket, but it keeps em alive. Though I sometimes lose a caravan before I can get decent armor fixed up. Check the caravan map that you get when you invest in the traders. They go to Tenpenny Towers too. If you absolutely need to keep them all alive, always fast travel to Rivet City, you only have rare encounters right there at the door, whereas in Megaton or Paradise Falls, I have a lot of enemy spawns.

I played on in one run through hundreds of hours...by that time, I had lost all the caravans, and the place was over-run with albino radscorpions.

If you wanted to you could revearse pick pocket better weapons and armor on them, it helps a little at least.

Actually they don't usually die off easily like that. They follow a route of 4 stations. Megaton, Arefu, Evergreen Mills and Canterbury Commons.

With Yao Guai, Deathclaws, Mole Rats and other things out there, though...the wasteland can never be safe.

I have just recently found Lucky Harith's Brahmin dead, in the middle of nowhere. I have no idea, to where Lucky and his caravan guard, wended off to. They probably took advantage, of their quickness and ran off, leaving the slow Brahmin to it's death. They'll run into me, some day...

Up in Canterbury Commons, you can talk with Uncle Roe and you can pay him, to make advancements, in the arriving caravans(Lucky, Crow, Wolfgang and Hoff).(Note: You'll have to make more then one payment, for this to work). If you tell him to make advancements in the armor caravan(Crow), you can then eventually, talk with Crow, next time you see him and buy the unique, "Crow's Eyebot Helmet", off of him. It's designed with flames on the back.

Even though, Crow died, you can still advance weapons, medical and junk caravans by talking with Roe.

I got tired of the traveling merchanting dying on me so i made a mod that marked them and their whole crew (including the brahmin) as essential.
