I just found out I'm screwed! Thanks Bethesda!

Thank you kind Sir!

It's just unbelievable of how many mods the player has to use in order to make the game enjoyable. I truly feel sorry for all the console players who are completely screwed and can't fix any of the bugs. At least on the PC the modders and players can fix some of the most atrocious annoyances in the game.

Dragons aren't really a problem. You just have to know how to deal with them. I can avoid many bugs on the PS3 with practice. I haven't had anything major in a long time,.

I save often, using multiple save files, and so if a dragon kills someone, then I just reload.

I never fast travel, which is why I've never had a dragon land inside a town with walls. As for outdoor locations like Riverwood, I avoid them unless I'm doing a quest there.

As for fighting dragons themselves, I enjoy them. It's nice to have things to fight that aren't the typical bandit/draugr/bear.

I bought the game on Launch week (Not Launch day, had nowhere to park at the mall...), and the only REAL Bug i've ever encountered was on "Blood on the Ice"..

Well, even if you know how to deal with them, it is a huge time waster! And it also gets repetitive very quickly. If it were flying bears, then at least it would be funny to look at.

In my case, not really. I rarely fight dragons, and even fewer come to me.

That's more related to how Skyrim is poorly developed in certain aspects overall than the actual mythic signifigance that would come about from defeating Alduin. You prevented the world from ending or being dramatically altered by Alduin's second coming, so defeating him has a profound impact on the future of the series either way. The visible impact in the game being underwhelming/dragons not being menacing enough has less to do with your actions and more to do with issues of Skyrim as a game. While I agree with many of these points, if we're going to go by game limitations or poor execution, we're going to have to lump in a lot more of Skyrim as meaningless than just dragons.

I know your problem however there must be a solution i haven't done my research but maybe someone has created a mod which eliminates dragons and gives the game more of a oblivion feel.

Yes I like this too. Gives everything more impact and things aren't just going to end on a fairytale happy ending.

OP, I think you should just play a different game. Dragons are a pretty big part of Skyrim and if you really can't stand them this much, why even bother with it?

I know right.

I bought Crysis 3 and was astonished to find out I had to shoot aliens. That's really the kind of thing they should advertise up front!

Get an attention span greater then that of a pea? Dragon attacks are fun! If they did nothing but crawl around it would be like fighting giant fire breathing iguanas... go forward into the main quest and you'll get a solution to the flying problem.

Ah yes, Joor Zah Frul is the answer to a melee warrior's problems with persistent airborne dragons. So long as your aim's good OP and you're willing to go through the MQ, you should be fine.

I disagree, dragon attacks give a level of realism to the game. Oh, you beat Alduin? All the hundreds of dragons he gave rebirth to have suddenly and mysteriously died! Thank you very much, please come again!

Depends. For example, take the Companions radiant quest, Hired Muscle. Farkas chooses his quest target well in advance of you getting the quest; his choice is, technically, a quest NPC. If the NPC is normally killable, its "quest NPC" status does not protect it.

In the worst case, if that NPC dies before you get Hired Muscle, you get the quest and can never complete it.

If you get the quest while the target is still alive, there's a stage 30 (fail) if you kill the target, AND a stage 40 (fail) if the target dies before you can engage.

Also, in the Thieves Guild, Fishing Job has a staqe 250 (fail) either for getting jailed, giving up, or killing the mark. (Not to mention the fact that the quest can pick targets that are immune to pickpocketing, thus forcing you to fail.)

I usually just do the MQ until after you give Farengar the Dragonstone, then avoid going to the Western Watchtower. The dragon doesn't come until you activate the guys dialogue, henceforth stopping any other dragons too. Also, stay away from Irileth by the rocks.

Open the console. Click on the dragon (hard to know if you're doing it for sure but you'll know soon enough.) then you have three options: tcai (toggle combat AI off), disable (removes it from the game until you close the program and start a save up again), or kill (kills the dragon)

I find dragon attacks to be quite enjoyable. I very rarely lose NPCs.

Dragons aren't that difficult if you know what you are doing, I haven't lost a single NPC (excluding the random guards) to a dragon yet. Their appearance is actually nice because it gives me something to do when running from city to city or area to area, especially if I can lead them to my enemies and kill them with the dragon.

Dragons at least make you use some sort of tactic (arguable I know) by making you run and dodge, use a ward to block shouts, to hide etc. Most other NPC's..."hi I'm going to kill you" *Stab* "Bye."

Skyrim without dragons is like a stereotypical lemonade pitcher without ice. It can happen but it's better with the ice because that's what it's defined as.

If you don't want dragons then don't deal with Alduin. I'm glad dragons keep going. Alduin resurrected all those dragons, they won't mystically die off because you killed the dragon that reconstituted them. It's not like summoning where when the conjurer died so does the conjured; Alduin pretty much put the flesh and muscle back together then let the soul take over again.

TC, advance in the MQ line until A Blade in the Dark starts:

major

Spoiler
Go see Delphine at the Inn to obtain the Horn and then leave the place
.

For some reason as long as the quest is active, the random dragon encounters do seem to stop (except the ones at the dragon lair locations).
