Just got back from class...

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:10 am

I have an observational astronomy lab class that runs from 7:00pm to 10:05pm.. It is freakin sweet, because I get to see all the stars and planets through telescopes since it is at night, but it is waaaaaay too late. Every time I come back I feel like I haven't slept for 2 days and my girlfriend says that all I do is plop on my bed and utter mumble whenever she asks me questions. haha.

Do you guys have any classes that run late? If so what? Anything interesting?

I am sure someone has a better tally than this, but I had a four hour work day turn into a 15 hour work day. And a follow up 13 hour day. On the weekend.
It was not the good kind of interesting.

It wasn't quite as bad as it might sound because there wasn't much else I was doing at the time, but I definitely understand the effect.
By the end my coworkers and I had one word question-responses because sentences were to hard, and a few times I think we just grunted and pointed.

I have one. It's called "The Internet."

I usually have a reaction like that if I've had a class first thing in the morning, then I'm a mess for the rest of the day. 10pm is hardly late for me, but I can see it bothering people who start their day early and then finish at such a time.

It sounds like a pretty cool class anyway!

Ugh... I vow to not go to attempt university again until I have a car. First week late night like 11pm on Friday we stop over at the bus terminal. Drunks puke right near me splattering me. Good god, never again. Friggen gross. Though I suspect that's less "bad" and more horribly disgusting and inconvenient. Though its a bus stop, always cesspools of filth.

Had a programming class that ran from 6:00-10:00 PM. Dropped it after one session. Hated the time, hated the class, and was already well aware that the instructor was incompetent.

I have 3 classes a week that run from 6pm to 1030pm. However, it is because I am enrolled in night classes, and thus chose to be at school so late.

The other week I had a day where I started at 10:00 moving furniture around the stadium, and finished at 22:30 in a bar, got home at midnight, and started work again at 10:00. And there's plenty worse out there .

I don't have classes presently, but my job has me working pretty late all the same. 1800 to 0600 (or 0600 to 1800, I don't have control of it) is not cool. :meh:

I'd kill to be able to go to bed at 2200 every single night.

During my sophomore year in college, the worst time I used to go home was 10pm, and those were almost always after three hour long exams. Add a 1 hour commute and class at 8am the next day and that's one heck of a night.

Ten is too late for you? Depending on how far away you live you can probably be in bed by 11. I bet you're a real party animal eh?

I'm just kidding, everyone has different sleep patterns, so its the same as when I'm exhausted for my 9:00 and 9:25 classes and my friends call me lazy.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I have class from 4-10pm. Tuesday is 3D Character Animation, Wednesday is Concept Art, Thursday is Character Design. The people teaching the classes work during the day, hence they are held at night. After commute home, dinner, and homework, I rarely go to sleep before 1am on weekdays. Since I commute t school, I'm up at 6am every morning. I've gotten used to it

I never got a choice between my classes. I had to pick ones that were left. and ya I start my day at 6:30am and am busy until 10:00 pm. Also I am not a night person. I wasn't trying to complain for all those who thought. I was trying to see how many people had late night classes and how late they went. To all you flamers. Grow up.

10 pm is too late?

for a class yes. for a CLASS not at night. when you are working at 7am until 1am then go to a class at 2, then have to study for your next class that is at 7pm and then get out at 10pm at the earliest then yes it is too late. Then when I get back to the dorms and eat dinner at 10 (usually its some fast food) I stay up until about 11 or 12 so my mind can relax before falling asleep.

I usually have a reaction like that if I've had a class first thing in the morning, then I'm a mess for the rest of the day. 10pm is hardly late for me, but I can see it bothering people who start their day early and then finish at such a time.It sounds like a pretty cool class anyway!

Ya mondays are my toughest days for school and work, but on the weekends I stay up until 12 or 12:30. If I stay up past that my body rejects that I am still up and it shuts down. I seriously can't think or talk normally. 0.0 but ya it is an awesome class! If you are in or going to go to college soon, I would suggest taking astronomy. I had to take a science for General ed, and am glad I took astronomy instead of any others. its really cool! in a nerdy science sorta way. :teehee:

Haha actually I don't really have time to party nor do I find any attraction to it. I know you're not lazy. Having classes at night can be tough. The only class I am able to actually function in is Cultural Anthropology. Also a fun class. Lots of cultural stuff I never knew about!
