So I managed to pick up the fallout collection which includes FO1, 2 and tactics, but I'm having some trouble with the colour once i start the games, and the installing of the first. Running windows 7, could this be what's causing the problems?

You need the high resolution patches (http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1273, http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1325). After installing these you simply have to go to each game's Options menu, click the SCRN button at the top, and set the Color Depth to 16 bit.

16bit or 8bit? (I thought 16-bit garbles the movies... and besides ~it won't actually improve the colors; It will always be 8-bit graphics. :shrug:)

Your problems windows 7, a friend got it last year now he cant play most of his old games, ill stick with xp it still runs just about all the old games.
