Just got Morrowind

Post » Mon Nov 12, 2012 10:53 pm

Hey guys! I finally got the GoTY version of Morrowind, and I am stoked. When I was like, 9 years old (9 years ago) I played it a bit at my friends house, but only a bit. Also, since I was a little kid, I wanted to "beat" the game, did not understand the concept of rp'ing and so on and so forth.
When I started playing PC games, rpg's was instantly my favourites. I started playing games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, Dragon Age: Origins and The Witcher.. Anyways, now when I am obviously in for a treat, I'd like to make my experience as awesome as possible, so any recomendations for mods? Graphic mods mainly :)
Thank you.

It's really hard to beat MGSO, which is a mod that only makes cosmetic, and graphical changes without changing the actual gameplay and game content itself. If I were you, I'd start with it so you can experience Morrowind in its default form, with upgraded graphics, and then afterwards you can add quest mods, extra weapons, companion mods, and whatever else you want.

Tamriel-Rebuilt.org They are working on a HUGE mod that adds all of mainland morrowind into the game.

So far they are about 1/3rd done the entire mainland (which equals about the exact same size of vvardenfall so it essentially doubles the landmass).
The stuff that they do have complete has full guild quests, miscellaneous quests and such. They got the whole house telvanni questline, i still think they are working on the house indoril questline but there are still misc quests in indoril lands. (so its a great addition to the game right now.)

The content they do add to the game fits in so well with the world you cant even tell its a mod. In some respects, they actually did a BETTER job then bethesda (the town of Necrom and Akmora for example are just amazing)

Theres some legendary towns in there such as Necrom, Akmora, Port Telvannis, Firewatch. As well as legendary locations (the ruins of kemel-ze)

IF you do get this mod, Make sure that you pick up the http://morrowind.nexusmods.com/mods/19510/. This mod adds a whole bunch of fixes and gameplay tweaks (That you can choose to add or not in the installation) but not only does it do that but it also Expands the map to fit all of the tamriel rebuilt in there. You can use page up and page down to zoom in and out on the map as well. Very useful mod.

Theres alsohttp://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=9122It lets you travel on silt striders in real time, so you can see the scenery on the way. Another good thing about it is you can dismount at any time (or skip to destination) so it sort of works like red dead redemption.
I use it alot for getting to destinations quicker. For example, the redoran stronghold at bal isra is right inbetween maar gaan and ald ruhn. If you fast travel from maar gan to ald ruhn, you pass right by bal isra. Now if that was my destination, you can bail out halfway through the trip and make it way quicker then walking from ald ruhn.

In that link if you check under related mods, theres one called boats and gondolas. They are the same thing, but let you ride boats in real time as well. I highly recommend those.

Also these mods are compatable with Tamriel rebuilt, so you can also take a silt strider in real time on the mainland as well.
They also programmed it so that when you finish the main quest the vvardenfall quarintine ends, so you can take boats from vvardenfall to any of the mainland settlements after that.
If you want to go on the mainland without beating the mainquest, you can still water walk over OR if you use divine intervention at Tel Branora, it will teleport you to the mainland town of Helmin (cus its closer then the divine temple in sadrith mora).

Also another bonus about these mods is that while travelling the landscape sometimes you will see a silt strider go right by you or you will see boats riding around the water in real time by themselves. Really adds a lot of immersion.

Anyway, I play the game vanilla Besides these mods (and the bethesda official mods like firemoth, master index etc) and it turns it into the greatest game in the world for me.

BTB's mod list is a great place to start, just don't be tempted to use every mod you see at once, try to be conservative :)
