Just had an interesting thought..

Is the ADS always the same? Or do different weapons or sights have different ADS times? Say, in CoD, an SMG has faster ADS than an AR, and a gun with a Red Dot has faster ADS than a gun with an ACOG; I was just wondering if this applies in Brink as well.

I would think that it depends on the weapon class.
And there might be an ability to ADS faster, but personally I'd hope not.

Hm..haven't heard anything on it but Dyllan and Napalm make good points. It probably does depend on weapon class and/or certain attachments.

Edit: Also, character class (a heavy can handle an SMG much more quickly than a light)

Yeah, lets just hope its not that much of an advantage. Because with CoD scoped SMGs have insanely quick ADS.

That could be easily fixed. Just make pistols the ultimate ADS weapon in the game. Since only, or mostly lights will be able to use them (I dunno if that's what the devs were saying..I remember they said "Lights can use light weapons as a primary and pistols as a secondary) it wouldn't really cause a whole lot of a problem.

Granted I know you weren't using that as a literal example.
Oh also, I don't think certain "heavy" type weapons will even have sights

You can't aim down a miniguns sights anyways, for they do not have iron sights, i assume holding down the button to look down sights wold make the gun spin so you are ready to fire.

Either that or makes it zoom in slightly, Fallout 3 style.

Heavy guns take the longest to draw, light weapons are the fastest to draw such as pistols.

Attachments that are added on the weapon add onto that draw speed, more attachments = slower draw speed.

It adds alot more strategy, should i add a red dot sight on this rifle? Or don't so i can change to it faster and finish my target off?

I don't think red dot sights should affect draw speed, they're just an ergonomic preference after all, some people are better with irons and some with dots.

Putting an ACOG on a SMG doesn't make much sense, though, because more zoom means you recognise the recoil more.

A sight ads slightly more weight to the gun and gives you an advantage when ADS. So there should be a disadvantage to it. And making draw-speed slower is certainly a good solution.
After all you can counter this with the gun-sling, if you don't need a Grip or Grenade Launcher.

The "Gun Sling" attachment might be an exception to the "slower equip speed" rule - I THINK it shortens the time you take.

As for the OP's question... ADS time will probably be only/mostly affected by the weapon choice, but may be tweaked a little with different sights (faster ADS at cost of slower equip/less stability, etc.)

Yea if you think about it, you would probably have to kneel down to attempt to look down the middle. In the gameplay videos, it was only a zoom in.

I still don't see why that would be the case.

The weight classes are divided into groupings based on being able to comfortably wield certain weapon classes, a lightweight obviously isn't so tiny that he shouldn't be able to use a shotgun, but it becomes unwieldy for the lights purposes. He shouldn't be at any disadvantage using the weapons he can use, his disadvantage being that that is all he can use.
