Just killed Caesar...

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:17 pm

And it feels damn good.

I don't know why, though. It just feels good. Been kicking bad guys' arses for as long as I remember the concept of "boss enemy", but killing this guy feels thrilling.

For some reason, the Ballistic Fist he got managed to cripple my Adamantium head (although with Small Frame, yes) with only 2 strikes, killed me with 3rd.

So I prepared my trusty semi-automatic shotgun, aimed at the head, and mowed 'em down at the chokepoint that is their front lobby. It was the 4th attempt though, damn ballistic fists

Boone seemed pretty pleased too

Been siding with NCR for 3 times now, but I've never managed to actually meet the guy (never even finished They Went That-A-Way 2 chars before). the first meeting sure feels special, as I was already level 42 and didn't even got a good look at his face, my shotgun and Bloody Mess blew his head to pieces

I did it for Hanlon's sake, so he doesn't have to go under, but I didn't think it will feel THIS good

LoL

Yeah, I can see that. I mean, Nipton was asking for it, and they don't do drugs or alcohol. Make 'em ban smoking and I'm ready to RP a Legionnaire

But I don't like the idea of slavers. Crucifix-crazed bastards I can go with, slaving masters I don't.

I remember the exhilaration of going to the Fort for the first time. Good for you for being able to take Caesar out, that is a very tough battle.

I honestly don't see much point in killing Caesar as it changes virtually nothing other than killing him being of small consolence. Kind of like killing Osama Bin Laden did nothing other than be a symbolic kill. Kiling Caesar does nothing but change the Legion sometime post-game. You're arguably doing more harm than good. The Legion for all its sins is undeniably a foothold of stability in the region they control. By killing Caesar, if it crumbles and falls back into anarchy, then you essentially brought lawlessness and chaos back to 4 states.

I'm against the Legion, but I just want to see them stop being able to advance/take Hoover Dam. To me, helping House is the way to go :spotted owl:

How could you side with the NCR three times!

I would get so bored siding with the same corrupt somewhat-democratic government over and over again.

I hope you try to play every path in all of New Vegas, every faction has positives and negatives.

The Legion's is absolute stability and tougher people to form better countries much later on in history.

I am personnally a House fan though.

I killed him once, but it didn't feel special to me, it was kinda easy, blasting my way through Fort with Boone, slaughtering anyone that dared to attack and finally killing Caesar in his tent...it felt like playing some mass-murderous game and not Fallout.

For me, his dialogue was one of the best experiences I had with him, also discovering Fort for the 1st time was a great experience. As someone already posted above me, killing him makes more harm than good.

Each to his own, of course.

I never felt anything as I mowed through his entourage. What did feel good was looting his tent.

He has a lot of good points if you talk to him. And by killing him you probably condemned the regions controlled by him to dissolve into chaos. Good job breaking it hero!

Do not allow the legion to take the Dam, but don't kill the only hope Legion territories have of a law under a non-blood lusted leader. Double that if you talk your way with Lanius at the end.

If you're not gonna side with Legion then kill Caesar and tell Lanius to go back to his lands.
The difference between Caesar and Lanius is that Lanius cares about the lands they control. Caesar doesn't.
The ending dialogue with Lanius shows this, Caesar is willing to lose control of his easternmost lands just to take control and focus on Vegas.
Lanius wants to strengthen his lands, he doesn't want a bunch of unnecessary bloodshed for some city if it means that his lands will be lost.

Not to mention that Caesar still has that tumor of his, which in case they can't cut it out he'll die.
Caesar also has a big ego, shattering his vision twice doesn't bode well for anybody.
Caesar is also getting old, he has no known successor beyond Lanius.
And Lanius cares more about the lands they control than Caesar do.

I found assassinating him on the operating table to be much more satisfying than just killing him outright. Killing their leader while still maintaining your reputation with the Legion is the greatest kill in my opinion.

I've never killed Caesar, I find him to be a great man. Putting people on a cross is terrible, but he only does it to no-good traitors. The entire town of Nipton was "Purified" because they turned on the very people that lived there. I have sided with the NCR, Yes-Man, and the Legion. All of the times I cured Caesar of his tumor. He's a much nicer person than the Legate is. The Legate is a blood-thirsty ruthless killer.

You need to listen to what he has to say, first, but at that point you can kill him and the entire Fort if you want to.

I normally wipe out the fort and set Benny free to make the Courier's future more interesting.

Yeah, I used unlimited companions, and it still is a tough battle. 1st try I died (only used Sleepytime, didn't know they're badasses), 2nd time Veronica died, 3rd try I died (tried to cover Veronica), so 4th try I just whipped out my shotgun and went crazy

Because of Chief Hanlon. Old man is good guy. I heard if you off Caesar he won't off 'imself, so I offed Caesar instead.

Yeah, well 1st play is just a test play (no mods no DLC whatsoever), to see how FNV looks like. 2nd play NVEC and Project Nevada bugged out in Novac, uncontrollable fps drop there, while Novac is my base :(

So this is 3rd try. No fps drop :). Gonna go for independent and house for next playthroughs. Might try Caesar for once. Do you guys side with Powder Gangers if you RP a Legionary?

Well I didn't really remember who got what, but I did loot lots of Ballistic Fists

Actually, I hope the Assassination Squad will come after me :/ I haven't seen them in my 2nd and 3rd playthroughs. Perhaps because of Project Nevada? Or Mission Mojave? I encountered them in my 1st play, and it was a [censored] though fight. 6 reloads. Love it.

Isn't Laius in Legate's Camp? I can only speak with him at Hoover Dam battle?

Yeah well, I sided with Boone. He got my respect, so I brought him with me for some mass killing

Yeah, I agree with his laws. I have to admit that what Vulpes Inculta said is very just, and they seem to deal with corrupt people very seriously. But still, slaves.

I'm going to drop a Big Kid on his head with Esther (if I can actually survive the blast) when I get round to meeting him and hearing what he has to say, I want to kill all leaders and besides he's now one of the only ways I can rack up some history points with Boone.

You know, speaking about looks, I thought when they say "Caesar's Legion", with Trudy saying they wear "Roman outfits" (or someone, I forgot), I thought I was going to see some kickass Romanian armor.

When I read fallout wikia and found out they're football uniforms, I... was kinda heartbroken a little :/

It does its job, that's for sure. I thought it's actually roman too, but... you know, some things in this world? They're better off unknown by people, makes 'em sleep easier at night :D

It would be a bit too hard to find actual Roman armour in nuclear wasteland, in place that had nothing to do with the empire. But yeah it would be awesome, I was expecting something more epic too.

Add swords modelled after actual Roman ones and they would be awesome, though I'm sure the metal and leather on them would make quite a few cliché gay jokes.
