Just a quick plea for the setting of Elder Scrolls VI

although i never understood why cat people would live in a desert... anywho.

It is said that cats originated from ancient Egypt. So that could be the connection.

So it's a choice between a desert and a swamp? Niether sound interesting at all...

I also have to disagree with your "hardcoe gamers want a beast race setting" I play video games (mostly RPGs) pretty much every day for hours at a time. I don't like your idea, so now I'm a COD fanb0y?

Lore wise,
Black Marsh is very likely to be the next setting for the Elder Scrolls. It all makes sense.

The Thalmor are slowly conquering all of Tamriel, and Argonia would be pretty much the only province capable of defending themselves agaisnt the Thalmor. They're on par with them.
The elves would probably leave it for last, so there'd be a lotta refugees from other races in there, allowing plenty of room for non-Argonian player characters and NPCs.

Both Alinor [land of the Thalmor] and Argonia were the only provinces capable of scaring the daedra off their lands long before Martin Septim even had a chance to end the Oblivion Crisis.

Besides, Argonia has a long history of being unconquerable. It was the only province the mighty Tiber Septim himself failed to conquer after countless failed attempts, and he was only able to get them to join the Empire through an agreement.

Plus, it would have the same alien-ish feel of Morrowind.

I'm surprised no one commented on this.

It actually makes a lot of sense.

Y'all are just a bunch of Stormcloaks hating on the beast folk. lol.

I just don't think Bethesda could do any of the southern provinces justice (which isn't to say they shouldn't try). Valenwood is a land of cannibalistic elves that live in walking trees. And there's more subraces of Khajiit than there are races of Men and Mer. I just think anything they do would be more likely to be disappointing than setting it in a safer province like for example Skyrim or shall we say Summerset Isle.

Well, the only reason the Thalmor exist at all is because they closed the Oblivion Gates without Martin's help.

The Argonians did exactly the same thing only difference being they're not full of themselves and didn't plan on taking over the world.

Martin's help? Last I checked I was the one who closed all those gates :P

Okay, they closed Oblivion Gates..

..And? The PC in Oblivion could probably close all of them in Cyrodill in a few days. If the lizards went against the Thalmor, ignoring the terrain on Black Marsh, they'd get crushed.

If I had to put money on it, I'd say the next game will be set in Summerset Isle. They would probably want to leave Valenwood until they are sure they have the technology to do it justice with all of the villages in moving trees and such.

If you've read the two Elder Scrolls books so far. The story starts out in Black Marsh and without spoiling things for those who haven't, it has a lot to do with the Hist and the trees there. Tie the books right into the next game...

Sissy High Elves probably wouldn't last a week in the swamp before contracting a host of diseases. Not to mention Shadowscales and the fact Argonians breathe water means anyone going in knee deep water would be a dead elf walking.

I'd actually love Black Marsh to be the setting of TES VI. Let's get back into some alien environs and give the Beast Races some love. But on one condition: Bring Back the Morrowind Style Beast folk.

Hoping for Alinor....

But could be anywhere.

Interesting how we're now 200+ years into the next era from what we're used to, and it seems like so much has gone on since Oblivion. Borders could shift even more between Skyrim and the next one, who knows? Maybe Akavir will invade and anoter Potentate will be the ruler of Tamriel by the time the next game comes.

They're just some puny elves, Black Marsh is home to winged argonians and even giant ones :P

While the PC in Oblivion was pretty powerful, he was going to fail miserably if it weren't for divine intervention... Mehrunes Dagon did invade the Imperial City after all..

Yeah but the Dark Elves are actually very very awesome, and Vardenfell was an extremely outlandish but awesome place to be with an absurd amount of Content, so Either Bethesda fluked it and got lucky with how good Morrowind was or they're just too lazy to make games of that Calibur these days, so I'm doubtful they could pull off an Elven region now.

Okay, Argonians defend themselves from Thalmor invaders? Sure. Argonians going in an allout war with the Thalmor?

They'd get laughed at.

I doubt the next Elder Scrolls game will even feature the Thalmor simply because whether or not they are fighting the Empire or the new force that Ulfric raises up isn't set in stone. The reason the time periods in Elder Scrolls is so far spaced apart is that they don't want the things YOUR character did to conflict with the game. If Skyrim followed every persons character from Oblivion then it'd be different for eveeryone. Hence the main quest. It's the one peice in Elder Scrolls history that's stable. No matter what you did in Oblivion, you shut all the Oblivion gates. No matter what you did in Skyrim, you still did whatever you did in the end (haven't beaten it yet.)

That's why I doubt the Thalmor will be around. I think that maybe there will be a Shivering Isles sized DLC where we take whatever army we sided with and we go to fight the Thalmor. It'd be that big DLC that everyone wants, a new place to explore, and an end to the Thalmor questions. Maybe we'll even get an alternate ending where we JOIN them O_O

Argonians and Khajit are the only non cliche races. It would make absolute sense to set the next game here.

If it was set in Valenwood or Summerset I'd be very dissapointed. High Elves are snobby losers and Wood Elves are boring.

Forests are lush and beautiful. And forests come in many variations. A desert is a desert. If I wanted a desert, I'd play Fallout. Which my main problem with that was the boring environment.

Although I suppose my opinion is slightly biased. Skyrim is beautiful for the same reason that Bruma was my favorite town in Oblivion... Snow. Beautiful pine forests, frozen tundras, and that gorgeous Aurora Borealis were exactly what I've been waiting for since I became an Elder Scrolls fan.
