Okay, Argonians defend themselves from Thalmor invaders? Sure. Argonians going in an allout war with the Thalmor?

They'd get laughed at.

If they were smart they would just wait for the elves to invade Argonia, which they're really inclined to do even if it would mean their death, since they MUST wipe every other race out to reach their goal.
Altmer are particularly snotty and fragile, they wouldn't handle the swamps well at all!

If even Talos himself failed to invade it, some puny elves surely wouldn't succeed.
Give it up, Dark Elf!

BLACK MARSH BLACK MARSH BLACK MARSH!

beth could come up with any excuse they want to get non-lizards populating it. some hist trees said they liked talking to the giant mushrooms in morrowind. done. a chunk of the lizard population migrates north, every other race fills the void because its the only place the thalmor cant touch.

i dont even like argonians... i just want to visit black marsh. its easily the most interesting place for me that we havent been to yet.

Elsweyr would be ideal to show off the power of next-gen consoles. All that fur-shading. Deforming deserts. Dense subtropical forests.

I don't guet all this dislike from beast-lands from a marketing or a "they can't do it well" perspective.

If there's one thing that virtually everyone can agree on, is that Bethesda are MASTERS at world-building. Skyrim was definitely a step in the "wild"-land direction as opposed to Cyrodil, and they did it tremendously, to much money and praise.

I have faith that if they chose a beast-land setting, they would do it well; just as with any other setting. And they'd likely be able to market it in a way so that it appears in a good light to the market.

And let's not forget that, though these places have central motifts, not every area in the land has to follow it. Skyrim is a motif of wild mountains and coldness, but there are quite a number of wide, grassy planes and some more green foresty areas.

Indeed.

Imagine how amazing the scenery would look on the so called next gen consoles.
It might even feel more alienish than Morrowind. Something like Blackreach from Skyrim, ten, maybe twenty times better.

Sounds hot and uncomfortable :P

I don't care for deserts and jungles in games for the same reason I don't in real life... I would never set foot in somewhere that hot... I don't really wanna see a completely different world every time. I wanna see some consistency in the world. Maybe a different continent entirely?

I always go a Breton and like playing as a mage so I'd like Elder Scrolls VI to be set in High Rock. And isn't the oldest structure in all of Tamriel there? It would be good to find out what it was really used for and there is a lot of story/history to explore with High Rock as the setting.

As long as there's a mountain biome in the next game for me to spend 90% of my time in, I couldn't care less about where the game is... I doubt that's possible with Elswyr or Black Marsh. Although I might change that viewpoint if I really get to see MOVING TREE VILLAGES!!!

Every time you look at your map the towns would be somewhere new XD

That'd be EPIC!!!

if it were me making the next game. i would double the dev team and set a decade timeline to release all of tamriel in stages. set the game to run on next gen consoles. heck they can even start after they finish with skyrim because they already have the PCs to work with. then when the next gen consoles are ready they might have 2 regions ready to go. port the game for the consoles and release. i dont know why we are discussing a single region when we can be discussing tamriel as it is a definite reality given the willingness to dedicate the time and resources to.

Because it's not possible on the PC either to make a game that big. And I doubt the next gen consoles will beat a PC.

There's a mod community that's been trying to do that since before Morrowind was released. It's pretty slow going I guess...

It should be some place with a desert, mainly because that's one of the setting that hasn't been featured.

Bleh, no. It was the main reason why I have not bought Fallout New Vegas. If they make a desert setting, then 90% of the game better be in dungeons/caves/under ground ruins, ect

Very, very unlikely. Having the majority of the NPCs you interact with be human/elf just makes better business sense. People want to interact with familiar seeming people in an unfamiliar world. Or at least I suspect that's the case. You'll notice they have only done one non-human game so far, and the dunmer are still pretty human looking.

The Khajiit are actually a diverse race that ranges from human form of their race all the way to the Cat form. So if they did Elyswer they could have more of the human form Khajiit around to make it more familiar.

I do not want to play a game stuck in an endless swamp with a bunch of argonians, especially since I mostly play as a Dunmer. Elsweyr would be interesting though.

This could really be a great setting. One hundred years after skyrim, the thalmor are expanding. Elswyr is conquered, as well as parts of cyrodil and hammerfell. High Rock, Hammerfell, Cyrodil, and Skyrim have devolved into nearly powerless bickering states.

Black Marsh has swelled with a population of refugees and rebels, people from all countries, who think their leaders are useless, and who hope to make a united front against the Thalmor. Aldmer, unfortunately, now get the treatment and hatred that used to be given to Orcs.

Black Marsh would still have a majority of Argonians, but there would be plenty of excuse to focus on human-types and their settlements. To reassure the suits at Zenimax. ;)

It may be Black Marsh, but the "main protagonist" will be a human or elf, for marketing reasons.

There has to be other land masses on Nirn.
All records of the place were destroyed for some reason.
How it ties to previous versions of the game, I'm not sure.

Bethesda needs to go back to an alien world. We've had human provinces in the last 2 games and generic fantasy world they've emulated is getting boring, imo at least. Black Marsh would be the perfect province to have the setting in. Never once has that province been conquered, as stated before and I'm sure the Thalmor would love to control the Argonians. It would be an excellent setting.
I do think it could take place in Valenwood or Elsweyr too though, as I'm sure the next game is going to focus on the Thalmor/Empire war. Those 2 provinces sit right between those two powers and would make an excellent setting.

How about a new peice of land called "Thalmora"?
The story will focus on the Thalmor/Empire War as others have said.
(be nice if you can pick a side in the beginning of the game)
