i feel kind of stupid.. i heard there were no birthsigns.. i was kind of worried.. but they just mean you don't pick one right at the start.. you actually activate the stones which stay activated til you find one that benefits you... soo, pretty much the same thing.. what a relief.

Everything is essentially still in the game, just a much better implementation and usually follows the theme of TES, progression.

Yup. They're not really birthsigns though and it's good to see that Skyrim doesn't have the same exact customs as the previous provinces.

It's an amazing system that encourages both customization and exploration even hundreds of hours in. The cornerstones of the franchise. Very well done Beth.

I hate the removal of true birthsigns. Picking stones aren't the same because you weren't born under them, so their role play value is diminished. RPing a Shadowscale isn't as fun if I can't have my birthsigns!

And no, mods won't help us filthy console peasants.

And yet they're great for people who are roleplaying something beyond the main quest storyline. Average joe characters or adventurers can feel free from being someone "significant" in any way.

Pretty much the same to the gameplay, yes. The true concept of "birthsign", however, is lost, but this is not a big deal. I think I will like the new way.

Some people don't like it. But I think it's pretty clever. The player is asking for a blessing from the heavens.

Stars are said to be divine beings, called Magna Ge (named after Magnus, the god of sorcery), in TES.

technically i don't think they lose RP value... they still have their name.. (idk if they changed much of the attributes they grant) but with the same names.. you ocan still RP something along the lines..and just RP that your on a pilgrimage to visit your birthsign stone...

Aren't the stars the holes torn in oblivion when the et'Ada followed Magnus to Aetherius after the formation of Mundus? http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Mundus

There are 13 stones, one for each birthsign. Roleplay that the only stone you can activate is the one that you want to be your birthsign.

I'll miss Birthsigns. They still exist in the game, as the constellations themselves, but we can no longer be "Born" under them. Just blessed by them.

From a practical perspective, nothing changed, but from an RP and Lore perspective, it's a bit of a kick in the nads. Birthsigns weren't always in the TES series though, they made their debut with Morrowind.

i thought everyone was born under a sign. (because every month is a diffrent sign, you have to be born under one) and a shadow scale has no relation to the main quest, so it is not great to that guy who is rping somethign beyond the main quest storyline.

edit: my opinion onthemain topic is sorta neutral, it will be a pain in the [censored] to find the right stone on my first play through, maybe some following plays too
