Just to sacre everyone

Since this game will be running off of a wholy new engine, an in-house engine, Bethesda might not want it to get out to the public. This means that they may deside against giving a construction set to everyone, so nobody can mod the game without constructing a third party program.

How'd you react to the lack of a Skyrim construction set and lack of Skyrim mods?

Remember, this is all a "what-if" bit. There is NOTHING (to my knowlage) that confirms or refutes this. This is all just for laughs.

There IS a construction set, called the Creation Kit.

So even though Bethesda's announce their Creation Kit for modders already since they felt good about it, your asking for speculation if they never did? Hmmm...you sure you didb't play too much Chrono Trigger? Also the answer: All hell would break loose. Untill the mob ran out of beef jerky to eat while shouting and throwing up pitchforks that is.

Because modding is much easier than making your own games of similar quality? And you don't have an entire game to build it upon either?

Yeah, because playing a game requires loads more imagination than modding. Is that what you were trying to say? Because otherwise I have no idea what you mean.

Well to be fair, the editors are capable of making stand/alone games from scratch, albiet still very hard work.

True, but it's much easier when they have the engine and all it's components and the basic system already laid out for them, plus the resources. You were reffering to things like Nehrim, right?

Like Dragonbone said, modding is far far easier than making a game. Have you ever modded before?

This thread didn't really have a point. It's been done before and the reaction was always a 'I'd be very very very very angry'

Oh, and I don't think the Creation Kit will be stupid

Because game engines aren't free, making a game takes A LOT of time and effort and modders usually don't do everything in relation to modding anyway. In modding instead, you are able to share resources with a lot of people and use in game resources. To create even a simple flash game takes about as much effort as some mods... then a simple flash game looks basic, while what you can do in an proper game engine is vastly superior.

do this, and ill forgive everyone else for not having a little imagination and trying to play the damn game.

Imagination is one thing, this is another. There is no imagination needed in area like this when you already have knowledge, imagination also takes hard work and dedication. No great artist or book writer ever got to where they are without putting in solid hard work into it.

There is NOTHING (to my knowlage) that confirms or refutes this. This is all just for laughs.

Indeed, to your knowledge, many on here have already researched it and in fact it was one of the earliest things confirmed really. Creation Kit probably won't vary too much from the Construction Kit's for Oblivion or Fallout 3 I imagine, but have to wait and see, it's rare companies go for a dramatic shift in the way their tools work, because it would require unnecessary retraining just to get the same level of results.

Construction set is confirmed, and giving that out has nothing to do with giving the engine out. They do that when they ship the game with the executable... it's just all compiled.

This is like saying, if you make the best wooden toy car's in the world, why don't you go make an actual car? It's about a thousand times bigger, takes MUCH longer to do, and is easier with a large team of people. Making a mod and making a game are NOTHING alike. Anyone can pick up a modding tool, learn it in a few hours and make some stuff. Nobody can pick up a raw game engine, learn to use it and make something. That takes hundreds of hours.
