Just saying hello..excited about Skyrim and a question

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 3:23 am

Hi All,

Long time Elder Scrolls and Bethesda fan here. Im anxiously awaiting Skyrim this fall and cant wait.

One thing that bothered me in the previous games was the spell casting and having to 'aim' spells. This was sometimes irritating trying to cast a spell while running backwards or strafing, especially when for example a fireball was not that wide in diameter. Does anyone know if spell casting will be the same, will have a 'success rate' or anything different in skyrim?

Thanks and look fwd to discussing topics in the future!

I'm sure there will be a lot of spells that you don't have to be directly aiming at the target, like ice runes that you place on the ground and when someone steps on it shards of ice spike up from the ground. And with dragon shouts, you have one that forces back your opponents, so so far it seems there will be a lot more spells that don't need to be directly aimed.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the kickass spell from the trailer, when he has fire in both hands and hits the ground like a wave of fire shoots around him at all the enemies. If you haven't seen the trailer go here, http://elderscrolls.com/

thanks yeah i saw the trailer just didnt know how much of that is real vs marketing, etc. Thanks for the reply and im glad they made some adjustments to spellcasting. I dont mind my spells not hitting the target each time, i just think that aiming a spell is counter intuitive.

I would agree. There is suppose to be some battle magnetism now, so aiming may be less important.

The trailer is confirmed to consist of all ingame footage, other than Alduin's wall from the announcement trailer.
