Level 20 is the Max in the basic game.

To increase it to 30, you need the Broken Steel DLC.

And welcome to the forums.

Hey, welcome to the forums! :hehe:

Yes, this is the norm, as on level 20 you max your xp, but you could of had the perk, "Here and Now" which adds one more level to your char, or get the Broken Steel add-on which raises the level cap from 20 to 30.

Simples, Mechano-Lad. ^_^

EDIT: Oh, beaten to it.

Welcome to the forums.

Level 20 is it for the basic game. Here and now won't get you to level 21.

Broken Steel add-on, purchasable either through downloadable content (DLC) or from stores packaged with Point Lookout, will increase your level cap to 30. It also fixes a few other problems and improves certain things - like Dogmeat's survivability.

If you are new to the forums, I would suggest avoiding the Cheats, Hints and Spoilers section for a while. Although the temptation is there to find out how and where you go to get the great weapon you keep hearing about, the game is probably better off played without that knowledge. This game is all about exploring, and some of the gloss is lost if you simply go on a booty hunt.

Have fun...

Edit: Same goes for wiki - besides, some of the info on the wiki entries are wrong (like that's never happened before...)

Hold on. How doesn't it?

I'm getting the DLC's for xmas, but i'm on 21 on the PS3. I've got Here and Now.

It shouldn't. 20 is the max for vanilla.

When I went through I took it, and it still max'd me at 20.

Edit:

Did you take it when you got to level 20, or before?

I'm also playing on the same character after loading BS, and I've maxed there at 30, not 31.

That might be the exception to the rule then...wouldn't give you any benefit though. Here and now is handy when you can't wait to get to the next higher level to get that really cool perk.

Reaching level 20 and taking one of the lvl 20 skills is just the same as reaching level 20, taking Here and Now, then taking a level 20 skill at lvl 21.

That's great that you're enjoying the game. Welcome to the forums - I hope you have a great time here.

We don't allow "hello/goodbye" threads because with so many members it would be chaotic - though I'm happy your question has been answered and I hope you really enjoy those expansions you're getting in just a few days.

So, I'll lock this one up now, and look forward to your posts here in future. :)
