lol, yeah I know what you mean. I can remember using psycho mixed with other substances to save my butt from a mutant encounter. Survived, but when I had to use my speech skill to enter a certain area, I slurred like a drunken George W Bush. My speech options were something like:

- errr?!

-urgh!

- OoO?

Keep that in mind for Fallout 2. Use anything you want, even though drugs are bad mojo, but take my advice stay the hell away from Jet!

I tend not to use cheka, but the dangers I think have been overstated. 2x psycho will make you pretty much invincible to all but critical hits. If you get addicted, once the areas clear press Z and keep sleeping for 24hrs until it clears.

Well i got another question for you all:

1. if i store something in a locker, when i come back to it will my stuff still be there.

2. I have alot of stuff where would be the best place to store stuff for safe keeping?

That is all and thanks for your responses in before hand.

1. Should still be there, I don't think containers ever "clear" or "respawn".

2. I use a locked in Smitty's shed in The Den. In FO1 I have no idea, no need to store items there since the game world isn't as vast, just regularly go to Hub and sell everything you don't use and use Ian or Tycho as a packmule.

In both games Items will stay where you put them forever. there is no "respawning containers". I never kept much in my FO1 plays perhaps a central location? In FO2 I usually get the car ASAP and have a mobile base thanks to the trunk.

There is a metal beam that stands out, right click on it and use the backpack then select rope from your inventory.

Ok guys i got another question...

1. I got a minigun ok. But it says my strength needs to be 7 and its 6. But is it worth carrying around?

2. I gave Ian a 14mm gun and hes not using it so whats up with that?

1. If you don't meet the STR requirement or don't have a good BG skill then it's pointless to carry around, just sell it at the nearest merchant.

2. Did you give him the correct ammo? (Go to inventory, right click on the gun, click the binoculars and read what ammo it uses)
Or maybe he just prefers SMG's since he's so good with them.

I guess he'll only use weapons he can kill you with. :P

What is the STR req for the gun? Maybe Ian doesn't meet it?

Did you retell him to use "his best gun in next fight"? Otherwise maybe he thinks the current gun he's using is better.

Ian needs the weapon animation to appear as a Submachine gun and not a pistol or he won't equip it otherwise. (I believe so, anyways)

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ian#Inventory

It says he has animations for Knife, pistol (he's default weapon when you pick him up is a 10mm Pistol Boradam) and SMG.

So if it's like it was in FO2 the 14mm uses the SMG animation. Hmm so it should work.

Tell him to switch to his best weapon, then leave combat, travel to a new area, tell him again, travel back, he should have it equiped now.

Fallout 2 fixes alot of the problems with companions. So you'll have tons easier time interacting with them when you start up the next game. ;)
