Dunno about the windowed mode, but as a general rule: save often and in multiple slots (you can [censored] yourself up in this game), and keep your eyes sharp and examine things as everything is not as obvious as in the newer games.

Yeah, don't go directly south.

Follow the main story as close as possible and remember what your main quest is, it's easy to get lost.
(Actually, you should open up a note pad and write down the main quest details as you progress, I always get lost after Vault City and then fumble around until I magically reach ___ ____.)

And what Luck do you have? Cause Luck can royally screw you over if you pick below 4.

There is a mod that allows higher resolutions. That might be why you want to play in a window as the stock res spread over a large screen looks bad.

yeah

1-people in klamth are douches
2-stay the hell away from golden geckos early in the game wankers have a nasty bite
3-the kids standing in front of the shops in the den are little bastards they pick pocket you without using the pick pocket animation and as far as i saw the only things you can pick pocket back are money coins and ammo the rest disapears (they stole my first hunting rifle :( ) best step to avoid them stealing your stuff is to walk to them make shure theres 2 circles of space between you and them then activate the VATS or combat mode and go into the store.

That's strange. I've always seen the pickpoceting animations, and been able to pickpocket my stuff back (although, I might misrecall on the latter as I've not been pickpocketed by kids in a good while - but I do recall pickpocketing more than coins and rocks from lil' bastards in Den at some point).

You should've played the unpatched European version back in the day where the kids were cut out from the game due to them being killable, but they still pickpocketed you, and you could occasionally see a floating text over "nothing" as the bodyless invisible kids spouted their oneliners.

Save often, Save often and Save often.

Talk to as many people as you can.

Fallout 2 is a make it or break it RPG. Think ahead, your guy can't be master of everything. So if your guy is a melee guy, focus on that.

This might be a spoiler... but there is
Spoiler
A car that you can get to save you having to walk around the wasteland.

The leader of Arroyo will
Spoiler
send you messages like "Chosen One time is running out." Don't feel rushed by that. I don't recall how many game years you can walk around before the game just ends, but you have alot of time

Go on the wiki

Don't use the wiki. It's more fun finding stuff out yourself.
